hi everybody,
i already have 3 knives: CRKT M16-03, CRKT kiss, and a Sog X-ray vision. A friend of mine has got a Spyderco Endura. I got very interested in buying a Spyderco! I'm having some doubts. Should I buy a police or a military, and if I buy a police, with G10 or stainless steel??? Thanks for helping me with my problem. (it is for general and self-defence use)

Dear Steven ;
My recommendation would be the
Military for it's smoother liner lock. If you
should choose a Police, however, get the G-10
handles for better grip.
Happy hunting !

Steven,
I am also trying to decide about this choice. I will either decide upon the G-10 Police or the Military; considering both with a plain blade. I have been searching for a picture of the G-10 Police model somewhere...(besides the tiny one on the Spyderco products page. If you know of one please let know where to find it. Good luck deciding on your purchase.
I too have a CRKT M-16; mines the large, tanto style plain edge. I really like this knife, but thought if I got another large folder it maybe should be a lockback - like the Spyderco Police model. Otherwise the Military is the logical choice.
Cheers, Jeff/1911.

Hi Steven. Welcome to the Spyderco forum. Thanx for the interest.
Both models are well made, but very different. It would probably be a good idea to get them in your hands if possible.

Sal,
If you don't mind, could you briefly highlight the strengths of each design (Police vs Military)as you see them. This is a tough decision to make for me too. I see these as two of the "Premium" Spyderco knives...and a "must own at least one" situation.
I just got a hold of some money from the sale of other items and it's burning a hole in my pocket.
Thanks, Jeff/1911.

hi steve,
I've been carrying a police model for more than 2 years (feeling naked when I did'nt carry it included) and since I've gotten my military I've hardly looked at the police again. cruel but nevertheless true.
I think you get me...?
regards,
dcjs

The Military design is a more refined design than the Police model. Almost 10 years more expeience in designing knives when the Mil ws penned.
The Police model is more of our "classic" Spyderco design. The Military more of the state of the art for us in terms of materials, light weight and versatility.
Hope that helps.

I've had a POLICE stainless with seration for two years and I love it. The blade holds a good edge and I've only had to sharpen it once. Yes, it does get regular usage. My only problem with it is the clip. Could anyone tell me how to get replacement parts, I.E. those darn little screws that keep getting loose. One has fallen out and I need to replace it. Thanks and don't chop your fingers off horse playing. ha ha.
