Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to get some initial impressions from those who have purchased the ladybug/photon. I'm considering this as my next purchase.

Thanks

I think it's the best you could get in that size (and price range). The photon and Jester or Ladybug make a very small package.
I like the Jester a bit more then the Ladybug.
Better and bigger (and more expensive) would be a Delica/Cricket with an Arc AAA, or even bigger a Military with a SureFire G2/E2e

I've been doing this kind of carry for a while and it works. Try it, you'll like it!

I'm not a flashlight nut, but to me the Photon puts out an amazing amount of light for its size while adding only a negligible amount of weight to your key ring. However, like Ted, I would recommend you take a serious look at the Jester/Photon combo.

IMHO, the Ladybug is a decent little key ring knife, and usable in an emergency. The Jester is an engineering marvel, so easily controllable and comfortable to use that you will find excuses to use it, and it fits on your key ring.

PsychGrad -

Welcome back! A good alternative to buying
the package deal would be to go to the "discontinued" section of this page &
buy a Ladybug ($16.95) then get a Photon II
from eknifeworks.com ($12.50) Although you may want the color co-ordinated version currently offered ( also PE or SE rather than CE )

I'm with Ted & Deacon - The Ladybug is cool, but unless you really, really want the pointy tip, I prefer the ergos and shape of the Jester. The slightly bigger opening hole and texture spots on the spine make a world of difference! Can't beat either one for the price, though...

The Deacon - Hi and have you ever seen Sal cut a piece of 1 inch free hanging manilla hemp rope with one slash with a Laybug?
If you ever did, you would not refer to this little GIANT as just decent. You would use terms like: Excellent, Gorgious, Fantastic!! Never call it just decent again please, as it really cuts 1" manilla hemp rope like a charm. Now ask BM to that with their little Bob Terzuola model.

Jurphaas, we are spoiled

Any good Spyderco in SE, Ladybug OR Jester-size notwithstanding, will splice that rope clean thru. Lesser knives need not apply in the first place...

PsychGrad, I tend to agree with the consensus on the Jester. If nothing else, you can get it in stainless steel instead of FRN. A tough handy ergonomic little cutter if there ever was one.

Loop a Photon Freedom through the lanyard and you'd be set!
