I got a good question for all of you whereever in the world.

What is your minimum salary (by the law, not by the function)

Example: here (Quebec(province of Canada) the minimum salary for any employee is 7.30CAD

In CT ( and the rest of "the Union&quot such as it is - $7.35U.S. is the "minimum" wage.

I get $1,037 a month Soc. Sec. or
$6.48hr U.S.

Not bad as I don't work!

The minimum wage in the United States is $5.15US (or $6.86CAD for your reference). It is worthwhile to note that some states in this country have adopted higher wage standards.

For my part I got 263$CAD a week for 40 hours of work at 9.23$CAD

263$ is the result (taking out impositions for the country and another for the province, for drugs insurances, for syndicate)
Then 369-263=106 of deductions

"wow" am I really proud of being somewhat "Canadian"?

Zrexxer -

That just goes to show how long I been outta
the work force! CT has it higher I guess because of John "beady eyes" Rowlands' rampant taxation!

CT has gone from being "The Constitution State" to the "Death & taxation state"

Don't really know out here in California but I'm sure it isn't enough...heck I say that about my regular wages.

Besides a good portion goes for gasoline now.Than it will be the electricty, and than the water, and on and on and on.

All I can say is that : "I'm so broke I can't even "PAY attention."

Now can you think back and remember what you use to work for....Back in my high school "DAZE's" I worked for $1.71 per hour.
Funny thing is though I always had more than enough money. My friends always borrowed from me. This was back in the 70's.
Before that I delivered the sunday edition of the L.A. Times.. huge paper but it was good income. And I would shag golfballs that came over the fences and the local golf course. It's funny but them golf nuts will pay to get there ball "balls" back..

enough of my stuff,

Laid off after 38 years on the job. Unemployed since August 2003. Unemployment compensation has run out. Couple years from SS. And I'm a Republican. Complainin', NOT, I don't know how I had time to work with all the chores at home.

Back here in Malaysia, an average wage earner gets about RM600 = US$157.87 a month which average out at RM20 = US$5.26 daily.. There's no "minimum wage" settings here.. The rich are ultra rich and the poor folks always have the bear the brunt of things..

Sadly, Louisiana sticks with the $5.15/hr joke of a minimum wage. ALL I can say is "thank God" that I make more than twice that, but I'm still as broke as a joke most of the time!

They have the 5.15 as min because of all the 16 year olds working at micky Ds.IMO it should be based on the age of employee and the type work being done.
ie.16 yr old part time at MDs 5.15
18 yr old at MDs 7.00
18 yr old at Wal Mart 8.50
36 yr old at Pepsi 54.00

Everyone I know around here has at least 1 Semi-marketable skill to keep them well above the Minimum wage scale.

Hey J Smith why should an 18 Yo make more $$$ than a 16 Yo if they are doing the same job?

Most all people under 18 are still at home and are mainly part time workers. If it hasn't changed TN does have a lesser wage for those under 18 but no one uses it.

Here in Romania the minimal wage is about 86 US Dollars a month. The medium wage is about 270 US Dollars a month. I win slightly more (275 US$ a month) so I stay decently well (according to the local terms of comparison).
Note though there are also people who make big money here (for instance, 27000 US$ a month) - Now that's a salary!

I have a cousin in Canada. He left about 15 years ago with his family. As I understood, he makes a fine living there.
