I will be glad to find out. It worries me.
Hey Sal what is the straight dope on this?

Chas hasn't exactly expressed pro-Spyderco views, 'lo these many years. Not that he's necessarily wrong, but he's got something personal with Sal, so factor that in.

I've gotten to where I think the best policy is to consider anything you read in a Usenet newsgroup as false until proven true.

I would have thought someone in the know would have said something by now. Perhaps it is being kept quiet.

Joe, you're being kind. Chas is definitely anti-Spyderco. He is a strong supporter of Steve Gartin who was at one time a Spyderco employee. I don't know much more that that, only that Chas comments on the "evils" of Spyderco with regularity.

IIRC, Sal is out of the country right now. Give him time. There was no peep of this on BFC, so there is probably nothing to it.

I've also seen him predict the imminent demis of Spyderco due to Steve's airtight case, for over 10 years now. I wouldn't get too worked up.

Chas is a regular poster to the newsgroup rec.knives.

Check out this link to see who Steve Gartin is.
http://www.geocities.com/stevegartin/steve.html

Near the bottom of the page you will see it says that he was former sales manager for Spyderco (among others). IIRC Chas has claimed that Mr. Gartin was designer of the Police model.

This may, or may not, be a subject which Sal is comfortable to elaborate on. However, I don't think we fans have to worry too much about Spyderco being sold in the near future.

We see the same bullcrap about this time every year from certian people.
I sincerely doubt <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> is even considering this when in fact most of the crew is on a out of the country knife show.
Not exactly something one would waste time on if such rumors were true. Ron

That is great news. I hope Spyderco is like Colt and S&W a company that last decades.

Thanks, Sal.

There didn't seem to be any doubt you are in for the long haul after talking about your plans and vision at the Spirit of Steel and after reading KI's glowing article on you and Spyderco I can't imagine anyone believing rumors of this sort. "Spyderco is the Shiznez" - Rumor Control, out.
