Sal - Question about sharpening hawkbills

Sal,
I know that you are busy but I wanted to ask you directly. I have a Sharpmaker 204 and I am trying to sharpen a Kershaw Talon with ATS 34. I have put in almost 2 hours trying to sharpen the blade with a 40 degree angle with almost no luck. The only sharp part is on the part of the blade right next to the handle. I have also tried to curve the blade by tilting my wrist when I move down the medium stones with no luck. Should I use the 30 degree angles to rebevel at this point?? I have probably put in at least 260 strokes on each side. If I do rebevel, when will I know to switch back to the 40 degree angle?? Thanks for giving me the opportunity to make this post.
