Marlin spike in the Military

#1

Post by J Smith »

Has there ever been any thought of putting a small marlin spike in the back of the military.

Looks like it wouldn't be hard to do.The lanyard hole could be used as the pivot and the spike fold into the space between the back spacer and the lanyard hole.

The knifemaker IMHO who did this best and right is John Myerchin. He's got a patented "double lock system" where both the blade and spike lock, either separately or simultaneously. Checkout: www.myerchin.com.
Wichard's knife has you practically cutting yourself on the blade in order to unlock the marlinspike. A locking spike is "de rigeur." See: www.wichard.com

Aloha!

Funny you mention this as my SGT. was asking about a Marlin spike on any Spydercos...Hmmmm.

I agree w/ saltydog as myerchin did make some nice knives w/ the hook.

God will put you over...if you let Him! Mark 11:23!

Myerchins Rock!

Vox has a sjaegte he sails on Hjarbaek Fjord and needed a good multi-use folder. Discovered Myerchins at a local Gun Show and shipped a BW300 to Vox before the Danish customs clamped down on our active knife trading. I was impressed enough with them that I bought one for me and the Sunfish Laser. Sure it's overkill but it'll hold until my barkentine comes in.

Sal has spoken of the Spyderco Tusk before but I have not seen anything on it for about a year or so. A Millie sized double lock back combo in H1 steel with a 3" Marlinspike and a on it would be the cat's whiskers.

Avast, Sal, ya scurvy old sea dog! Help an old pirate looking at 50 out! The Tusk cries out to us sons of sons of sailors.....arrrrrr!

Meanwhile try: Myerchin, Inc - Gear and Marine Classics
