OT: Info on a FROST CUTLERY Folder...

#1

Post by DAYWALKER »

Aloha all...As I was going through my tool box, I found an old Frost Cutlery Folder in it. I bought this knife from, believe it or not, a certain Mr. ONION prior to his Kershaw fame.

It is a lock back, has what appears to be bone scales(There's a hairline crack one one of them, brass bolsters, ho-hum...

but the blade is shaped like a traditional razor, and it says,"ONE-ARM BANDIT" on it. Opposite side is marked Japan.

I really doubt it, but does anyone have any info on this knife? Gave it a good polishing and it is a beauty! Any help here Deacon would be nice...

Mahalo 'Mites!

No info to offer on them Daywalker, but did get a good chukle wondering what segment of the knife buying public Frost was looking to attract with that one. Here in New York, straight razors have long been the weapon of choice for "ladies of the evening".

Daywalker :

I recall the "bandit" from when I did business with Smoky Mountain Knifeworks
( now eknifeworks.com <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>) Frost is oft
under-rated ; they're not <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s or the other
"big names". Give'em a call, and ask if they
have any old literature :

1-(800)-251-7768

Or ask the nice sales-person for Jim Frosts'
e-mail address.

Now if Our esteemed "Mr. Blonde" forum-ite
were here he'd say : "alone at last." and
do a wicked deed with that bad boy!

Sounds to me you have a old and IMO much better rendition of the original Frost knives.
Seems I heard once or twice the elipse in the end of the 1 arm bandit blade was for hooking on a jeans pocket for easier opening.

The Japan Frost's are made better than the 1s we see today from China.
Your's is probably marked surgical steel on the tang somewhere is why it takes such a good edge, hope this helps a little. Ron

Aloha Ron,
thanks for the info! Yes, it does say surgical steel on it. Also, the quality is WAY better than the current line of Frost knives.
