Salsa and Temperence

#1

Post by dashunde »

I'm thinking about picking up a Salsa and a Temperence and I'm wondering what you folks think of them.

I'm particularly interested in a good photo of the Titanium Salsa's lock.

I'm also wanting to know more about the construction of the Temperence's handle.

Full tang? Etc..

Thanks.

I'm working off memory here, so I may be way off...

the tang is a 1/3 length, with holes in it. They inject the handle around that, giving a nice balance and light weight, along with high strength.

Fred perrin(fb04 perrin, same type of handle) has given a wager... break the knife in normal use, and he'll kiss yah. haven't heard any horror stories about that yet.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but the Temp / salsa combination got me wondering about something.

To everyone who owns a LIL' Temp and Salsa? Do the two "feel' similar?

I own a lil temp, but have never held a salsa.

I know it may be a crazy question, but the two seem to have similar handle shapes (and the compression lock). It looks like the Salsa is an even littler temp.

jbake,
I own and carry both the Ti Salsa (work) and lil Temp (w/e rotation) and they feel nothing alike. The Ti Salsa fits in the pocket nicely with very smooth scales. The integral lock is very secure and simple. Also the blade is short and wide and a wire clip that is very good for a work environment. The lil. temp is a tank. Thick blade and MBC rated lock. I'll propably use it at summer camp if the para is not out. The scales are a rough G10 so the grip is great. I also feel it every time I put my hand in my pocket. If you want a nice work EDC, salsa. You want a heavy duty worker Lil. Temp.
YMMV.
dashunde, I don't have a pic of the lock. The Cool did, maybe he'll chime in.

Be Excellent to each other.

Thanks Boxer93...
I love my lil temp, but it is heavy and I've found a bit intimidating to others. It is my w/e knife but it does go to work with me. But (depending upon how I'm dressed and what I'm doing) sometimes winds up in my briefcase. A delica is usually the one I use at work. I may have to see if i can handle the Ti Salsa - sounds like a good work companion.

thanks for the info...

Pics

The Ti Salsa is excellent quality, strong lock and a great slicer ( it's length and 'stubbyiness' imposing limitations naturally).

If you're in the market for a Salsa then take a look at the Calypso Jr too.
