Dear Vampyrewolf:

Very cool! Thanks for sharing.

Mort, I'll be seeing Mike Sastre next month and will personally put a boot in his*****to get your sheath done. I empathize with you as I have also been waiting on some stuff for a while. I guess good things do come to those who wait...

Stay safe,

How is the speed of your draw?

How much noise does it make when you pull it out?

Just wondering. I think it is a wonderful set up.

You can't have everything. And if you do, you're missing something.

After running with it set like that for a shift at work, I changed it over to IWB/horizontal to right. Clip sits dead centre, rig sits fully above the belt line, doesn't print at all as it's hugging your back.

I haven't noticed much for sound using kydex. Slight release noise but not noticeable unless your waiting for it.

first time I drew it at work from the back carry my partner's eyes looked like they'd pop out. he didn't see anything and then suddenly I had a 3" fixed out and using it.

As to speed, with kydex as soon as you have a hand on the knife it's out. I've got 3 of eric's rigs on spyderco fixed(fb03, 05, 09), and all 3 are like that. canted carry is easiest to draw from for use, though vertical with edge back, tip down gives a really quick draw.

pachucko: I got this from eric, as part of a 3 way trade. He had this one in his collection. For anything that eric doesn't have on his site you'll have to send it in for work. Pretty decent collection though.

I'll have to get a pic of this setup too.

Dear Mort:

I'm glad you finally got your rig from Mike. He does great work and probably does the best tuned sheaths in the business; however, like most custom work from one-man shops, you have to wait for it. I'm glad you consider your sheath worth the wait.

I recently got a cool shoulder rig for a Ronin and a 21-inch ASP from Rob Hummelbaugh of Survival Sheath Systems. It is very nicely done and provides comfortable, discreet carry for two of my favorite toys. I will be doing a full review of it and some other items soon when I update my web site to include a product review page. Look for it in a week or so.

In the meantime, check out Rob's web site at www.survivalsheath.com. He also does custom work and, as a newer guy on the block, is not yet as backlogged as Mike Sastre.

Stay safe,
