my friend has a spyderco rescue and delica, and he oftem times flicks out his blade with much force, i told him that will mess up the mechanisms, but he said dont worry it wont. i own a merlin, and i was just wondering is this true? If you forcefully flick our your knife will it be damaged?

thanx

I doubt it, but over a long period of time it might cause a considerable amount of wear but hardly anything to worry about.

This was discussed in another forum that I participate in. Flicking can dent or wear your stop pin but in a lockback like the merlin, I am not sure. It might further wear the lock or make it more loose. I wouldn't do it often.

I'm not sure about the knife, but if you flick it too much you can go blind. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
