Blade Steel Question

I have a Delica with an ATS55 blade, now I see it is also available in VG10.
Which is the better steel? Why the change?

Hi CCV, welcome to the Spyderco forum.
We are always changing and improving at Spyderco. CQI (Constant Quality Improvement) or "Kaizen" in Japan is our philosophy.
We believe that VG-10 has an edge (pardon the pun) over ATS-55 in edge retention and corrosion resistance, so we gradually made the change.
If a newer and better steel is developed, you can bet we will be one of the first to test and use it.

I find that VG-10 takes a keener edge.

Welcome to the Forum. I have both ATS-55 and VG-10 Delica and they perform great. No matter which one you'll pick, it'll serve you well. ATS-55 is a fine steel too and all those who have extensively used it will aggree. IMO it is most underrated.
