Dude,
Welcome aboard the Spyderco Forums! I'd pick the Delica first and consider a plain-edged FRN handled variant of the Harpy which is called "Merlin" as backup!

I recently got a new ss Harpy and I love it. It has a solid feel to it and the blade is incredibly sharp and strong. Of course it's curved blade design limits it's usefulness in some applications but if you're looking for a handsome knife with lots of cutting power you cant go wrong with the Harpy.

I got the Delica, FRN, as my first spydie, after it I was sold on the quality. Get the Delica... and the Harpy, or merlin, after.
I am getting a cricket because I need a small( under 2" ) blade for school and work. I want serrations, and the cricket seems to fit the bill nicely. I was looking at the merlin, till I recalled my size predicament.
We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

I would definetly go for the 2001 delica.I picked one up saturday and I love it.Funny at the same time I handled both a harpy g-10 and a stainless, but chose the delica for its everyday little knife applications, not to mention the superior serration grind as opposed to the harpy

Personally, I would pick the Harpy because of its unique blade shape. However, if you are in an environment whereas it might get you in trouble. Stick with the plain Delica. Either way though, you can't go wrong!

I have had a serrated delica for a while and recently bought a G-10 Harpy from another forum member with a Mike Sastre (?) neck sheath. What a great combination. The G-10 Harpy feels as smooth and as solid as my Wegner, and the sheath is extremely well done. I need to get some for my other knives. That being said, the Harpy is really a special purpose knife, it is not versatile enough to take the place of either the Delica or Calypso Jr. Lwt. as an EDC. It is more of a collector piece or one that I may use with the neck sheath in a situation where such a defensive knife might be usefull. Sort of the same use that I have in mind for the CF Civilian that I have on order.
Regards,
Rick
