Sometimes I teach my daughter about something, then over the next few weeks I overhear her teaching her friends about it.

Last night during a sleepover I caught her telling her bestie what a vanadium carbide is :rofl

I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

finally got off my lazy butt and ordered some wire clips for my Pacific Salts.

Image

A member here made me some 3D printed wire clip adapters and it slipped my mind to order the clips.

So in a week or two I should be rocking my rastasalt with a black wire clip from a Manix 2 LW. Excited to see how the ergos feel with it - that's the draw for wire clips for me, less interference with my grip.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

I still have never even held a DF2, I'm thinking K390 but could be persuaded otherwise. Would y'all recommend Leaf, Wharnie or Other (shape/steel)...I'm leaning towards the K390 Wharnie.

Edit: Patience be damned. I went with the K390 Wharnie. Looking forward to it and the Nightstick's arrival, first couple of Spydies I've bought in a long time...
So it goes.

This is a great choice! DF2 is a sublime Spyderco, and the ultimate expression of a "small big knife." K390 is icing on the cake.

I think you will be very happy with your choice . I have carried a Salt DFy for going on 7 years now for about 99% of the time in right pocket for small jobs . Hope you enjoy it ! MG2

Anyone seen/heard anything about the 2025 discontinued list?

The 2024 list (viewtopic.php?t=95333) was released 11 August 2023 though Kristi noted that was "a little early."

Getting ready to turn all my cash back credit card points into knives and wondering if I should save any for discontinued sales...

It's been a glaring hole in my accumulation and I'm really glad to've finally picked one up. The only other Spydies I have in this size are the S90V Lil' Native & S90V Urban. The K390 Wharnie DF2 is featherweight and more than capable enough to hold it's own. It makes the G10 Urban feel chonky...and it makes me smile.
So it goes.

Anybody out there think prices are getting too high? Just saw an ad for a Para 3 LW in BD1N with a price more than what I just paid for an AD20.5 in 20CV. I'm always interested in expanding my Spyderco collection, especially for Para 3's and Native 5's, but the current prices are forcing me to look elsewhere. Comments?

4 Max Scouts can be purchased for less than a Ladybug.

3V SRKC from taiwan cost me less than my 8Cr chinese Bow River.

Love the brand but prices have slowed my roll. I'm much more selective these days than I was when higher end models like the Military & Police could be had for $120-150.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

I used to use my knives A LOT working in the warehouse at work. Loved it, learned so much about use and sharpening. These days I'm a pencil pusher who rarely uses them. That said, I think even if I were still in the warehouse I wouldn't be buying more knives. The prices really are getting out of hand. I understand why, not blaming Spyderco or other knife mfg's. Just the way the world is these days. I have many other things that have taken priority over knives. I have more than enough...will take something really special to make me jump! It's been over a year since I've bought a new knife (used to be once every month or couple months)

I have a couple questions for anyone who can answer. Thanks ahead of time for anyone willing to clear some things up for me.

First question:
Is this Stretch 2 XL in gray G10 and CPM CruWear a "Sprint Run" or is this a production model? I was under the impression it was a Sprint for some reason but I am finding some information that seems to indicate otherwise.

Image

Next question:
Is the latest version of the Police 4 with stainless steel handle and torx construction still using the hollow ground blade?

Police 4's are all full flat ground.

I think that would be considered a Police 2, and as far as I know all stainless handled Police folders use a hollow saber grind.

Yablanowitz is an expert on the model, hopefully he chimes in.
May you find peace in this life and the next.
