New quote from Sal. Sorry if it's a repeat.

There has consistently been interest in the old large style manix. I wouldn't mind seeing it in a steel other than S30V. Something tougher maybe. :)

To be honest the S30V did just fine in mine. I just wish I had another one or two large ones.

The original (C95) manix is still my all time favorite Spydie. My first "must" for how I'd like any re-release to have is G-10 handles. I have tried CF is all its iterations, but I still prefer "good old" G-10. I'd also really like to see the new lock geometry that is used on the Native 5.

Finally, I'd love to see a "tool steel" Manix -- perhaps one in M4? Then again, how about picking something ultra-tough like CPM-3V? I don't think Spyderco has ever made anything in 3V and a tank like the original C95 seems to be the perfect way to use it. However, if Spyderco wants a marginal increase in toughness and still wants to also showcase one of their newest steels, perhaps this new Big Brother to the Native 5 should also come out in S35VN???

Anyway...

My wish list is for a new C95 sprint run using:

G-10 (Black, Brown, Orange...I don't care)
Updated mid-lock back (N5 style)
CPM-M4 (PE, and naked)

Yep... I'll take at least 2.

Whoa! That's a huge bombshell about the original Manix lockbacks! Those are my all-time favorite designs! Thanks Sal, I'd love to see the return of both the original full size Manix and the Mini Manix.

New knives are like a week in the sun, just without the beach, water, flowers, dinners, and conversation. They brighten our lives like the sun, just w/o that nasty tanning side effect...

I'd be all up in there for another original Manix in a New York minute. My understanding is that time is quicker in New York.

A couple of Sal's recent bombshells:

Caly's
sal wrote:We have a couple of Caly's in the works. A "3" with Damascus and a bolster, and a "3.5" with CF & ZDP.

We have not problem making a sprint of a G-10 / VG-10 Caly3. We'd have to use a different color than black.....thoughts?

Tomahawks
sal wrote:I'm also geting input from Kristi that the Miliary has been asking for a tactical hawk as well. So we'll add Mike (Janich) and Kristi to the team. Although it's possible that we may end up with two hawks. Two's better'n none :)

I'm less excited about the Tomahawk, as I have no practical use for one. A camp ax, yes, but not a Tactical ax.

Kitchen knife info came from post #8 of this thread: http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.p ... post715947

For future reference, if you click the little blue box with the > that is next to Sal's name in the quote (or whoever's name is being quoted), it will take you directly to the original thread the quote comes from.

Jabba I agree, thats why I really hope they give us two. One uber badass hatchet with a hammer back and super steel, and then whatever to the "tactical" type. Am I the only one that thinks a tactical hawk has very limited applications? and in most of those cases, wouldnt another tool work? I understand the military might have use for one, but what will people who dont knock doors down for a living do with it?

Im super pumped about another caly 3 coming out! I felt the zdp 3.5 was inevitable!

I absolutely agree, a camp ax should it be.
But (much to my regret) I accept the Military use and all the voices of "ninjas" for a tactical ax.

First: No you aren't :) Second: Yes it would work.

From what I remember reading they were thinking about making two different axes/tomahawks, one tactical/military and one more utility/camping oriented.
