:spyder: :spyder: Potential realization of a New CHINOOK IV gets my vote early and often. :spyder: :spyder:
Even with the potential evolution and design / metallurgical / heavier duty improvements to reach this hypothetical stage -- plus royalties (J.A.K) factoring all in were to see the light of day but resulted in her carrying a substantially heftier price tag, I'd GLADLY pay in excess of $300.00 MSRP.
Speaking personally, if by way of a resurgence of the earlier 'battletank' Chinook concept -- only taking advantage of new availabilities re: 'exotic' steels than incorporated before were to be taken under consideration and resulted even in a sprint run -- WOWWW. :D
(...CPM S90V, maybe ZDP 189; a return to Solid liners, maybe backtracking from FFG's less overall blade mass as with the III; further advancements in evolving blade profile; G10 scales retained + more massive construction in a resurrected CHINOOK (IV), I believe altogether has a bigger potential for securing a loyal, enduring market niche than may be otherwise presumed. Light SD knives IMHO aren't necessarily "all that" ALWAYS.)

Question for Sal re an H1 model for pilots
Sal,sal wrote:simply greater capacity. We're making a model for the Naval and Airforce pilots and greater capacity was needed.

I'm gonna take a WAG and say Moran DP...
I think Michael Janich posted in a forum or in a video about the Moran DP (FB02) being modified to meet U.S. Military pilots' survival knife needs.flash900 wrote:Sal,

Again, this is my recollection of the answer to your question. Let's hope Sal or MJ sees our posts and sets the record straight.

I suspect the model being referred to is the black blade Pacific Salt, since it was one of those being converted to screw hardware to increase manufacturing capacity, and I recall TazKristi mentioning it was being made for the military initially.
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.
Perhaps this is what you meant, but I recall the change to screws as being a government requirement.yablanowitz wrote:I suspect the model being referred to is the black blade Pacific Salt, since it was one of those being converted to screw hardware to increase manufacturing capacity, and I recall TazKristi mentioning it was being made for the military initially.
Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

Naturally the ideal number is enough to please all that want one and no more. It's a very challenging number to guess, especially when, as mentioned, it becomes a commodity to sell rather than a very nice knife to experience.
I would guess that you'll see more carbon fiber, maybe a different color, but probably with a different exotic steel.

For all you Schempp Rock Salt lovers:
Sounds like a nice alternative to the Temp 2. :D I wonder how the price point will be, FRN handle?sal wrote:we changed the new ed schempp rock salt into a full flat grind vg-10 model. (same handle, same sheath). Made for wilderness use. I think we're calling it the "schempp rock". Should be all the "toughness" you would need for a fairly large knife in the field.
If you are going to go out in the bush, bring your tough knife. If you can't remember to bring a tough knife, and you have to use your folder, if it's a spyderco, you'll have to remember it's a folding knife made to cut.
i think they're tougher than you think.

Affordable I hope, considering I missed out on the Rock Salt and have searched everywhere for one only to find them priced at above $300!!!Creepo wrote:Sounds like a nice alternative to the Temp 2. :D I wonder how the price point will be, FRN handle?
Plus I think the FFG has great potential as a wilderness/survival knife. And with the blade material being VG-10 it shouldn't be too much of a worry to re-sharpen. Can't wait!!!

I'm guessing everyone's already seen the prototype for the Native SLIPIT over on British Blades, but just in case: http://www.britishblades.com/forums/sho ... -Slipjoint
