Just got a killer deal on a Manix 2 LW mint M4 exclusive. The last time I tried a LW Manix, it didnt really do it for me and I ended up passing it along (white REX45). Maybe this time I will appreciate it more. I know many many people love the LW Manix. We'll see when it arrives
i have them both and the Rex 45 has been infinitely better for me. The M4 is far too prone to chipping while the Rex 45 is nigh-indestructible.
my issue was not with the blade steel, but with the feel and action of the LW Manix 2. But I have decided to give the LW another go since so many others seem to love it

On Saturday I received my second Ladybug in ZDP-189 which completes my collection of "special" Ladybugs. The two ZDP Ladybugs were in addition to the HAP40/SUS410 Sprint Run and K390 versions. Both ZDP knives and the HAP40 variant were brand new in the box and accompanied by the original Spyderco literature. Call me over the moon!

Very nice. I have a large collection of Ladybugs, Manbugs, and Jesters but I do not have a ZDP version. I'm always on the lookout though.

Just to help pass the time until I can get started on the latest franken knife ; in the mail is :
Tenacious tan G10 with M4 blade
and
Tenacious black G10 with black bolts and clip .
Arriving next couple of days .
I'm putting the M4 blade in the black / black handle then cutting the blade length down to about 50 mm edge length then thinning the blade to 2mm at the spine .
Heck , I don't even need to reprofile it ! The behind the edge and the sharpening angles , from the factory , have been "Blue Ribbon " winners on my other two Tenacious M4 knives .

PS: or as SWMBO says : "Congratulations ; you've made a box knife" . ',:-| :woozy :yawn
:confounded
:rofl
PPS / UPDATE : got'em both . Both perfect ; I love factory robot sharpeners ! ! ! ! (I don't have to spend an hour putting a decent edge on it any more. Just take it out of the box and use it . Praise Bob !)
Going to make the blade swap and cut the M4 blade shorter tonight after we eat dinner and watch a movie . Maybe Monday I can test 'er out unboxing some machines ; if the shipment arrives by then .

Just received my new Manix 2 Xl in Cruewear and micarta. I am very impressed with this, it was ground perfectly and extremly sharp.

I have tried very hard to like the Manix2 none XL but it's handle is just to cramped and does not feel good in hand.

The Manix 2 Xl to me is what the Manix 2 should always have been to the point where I think of it as the Manix and all those little guys as the Manax mini.

After receiving the Sage 6 peel and ply CF in S30V with the magnificent button actuated compression lock I have ordered the S90V version CF.

YEAH I AM PUTTING MY MONEY WHERE MY MOUTH IS.

The Smock started this wIth the same lock.

I have a PM2 coming in with this lock as well it is from a company that does custom modifications.

As far as I am concerned all Spyderco knives using the compression lock need this button implementation.

Sure someone is going to pipe up to the contrary, I say nope I disagree with you.

Sure Spyderco can keep making the regular compression lock with cut out on top but given the choice between the two versions even if it costs more I will never buy another old fashioned compression lock and gladly pay a bit more for the button version.

Yeah it's that good, and yes the Sage series has always been one of my favorites. So it's not just about the lock with these purchases but it has made me buy a Sage yet again X2.

Just don't let "The Boss" find the invoices / receipts .
I find it prudent to get to the mail box first to :rocket ; best not to let her sniff around the packages :eyes . ;)

I can not disagreed with that !
I can sure do without what I call "The Pot Hole" right where I want to grip the knife .
I'll even be a little pathetic and whiny and say I wouldn't miss getting pinched by the compression lock (when I forget to open some of them just right) .

I will . . . gladly pay a bit more for the button version.

You said it !
Me too !

Sorry to hog the thread . . .
maybe it comes down to :
do you want stainless ? Then = S90V.
or
do you not care about stainless or even like Patina ? Then = Maxamet

I don't care about stainless. I'm a huge fan of tool steel as a life long furinture maker. I understand about how to take care of my tools. I suppose I can/would extend the same care to my knives. I'm leaning toward the Maxamet.... but I wish the PM2 was that knife.
