As we move into autumn, I'll most likely be alternating between these 2 models so a bit of comparison seemed in order.

As much as it pains me to admit and to my everlasting shame :winking-tongue , like any other child of the '80s I do thoroughly enjoy the Interceptor blade. It has no usage in real life whatsoever, but it does manage to magically transport me back in time, when summer vacations were a black and white affair, either spending the entire day outside, or inside a darkened room huddled around the VCR with your best buddies. That being said, the bowie blade done by Heretic is better still. As a matter of fact, IMO, this is the sexiest blade shape I've ever seen on an OTF.

(Microtech has their own version of bowie on the CT but I do find their version of clip point somewhat stumped and throwing the proportions off, while the Heretic version presents (to my old eyes) a more slender and mean profile).

The action on Gen III Microtechs is easier on the thumb, but I do enjoy more the snappier action on the Manticore. I also like a bit better the rounded-off handle contour and the lower-sitting button on the Manticores.

I do like better the Ti clips on Microtechs, I find them reliable and consistent, easier to remove/insert in the pocket. Heretic's clips have been all over the place, I have delrin ones (which are absolutely awful), metal clips with either Begg ball insert or not, with a lot of tension or not, no rhyme or reason; feels like a coin toss, never knowing what you'll be receiving. On the other hand, Heretic is one of the few companies (if not the only one) that uses the composites on the clip side of the knife, as a right-handed person it feels indisputably better to have the more slippery aluminum scale on the show side and your hand wrapped around the better-traction material.

Now waiting on that Dyad Jr. to drop ;) for the perfect combo carry.
