CRK Small Inkosi Insingo has the same blade length as Stovepipe and with titanium clip it’s $375 (all materials made in the U.S.). Stovepipe has the superior 20CV vs S35VN for all CRK. Inkosi weighs 2 ounces less and is much slimmer (width and thickness when closed).
CRK has slowly been moving towards S45VN this past year or so. Baby steps for them I guess!
Hinderer did the right thing by going straight from S35VN to 20CV.
Rick Hinderer actually used 20cv long before the “change”. His S35vn was good stuff and I would take CRK’s S35vn over most 20cv. Some would say it was the right thing for RHK to use lock bar inserts, personally I’m not a fan of them as it requires much more lock bar pressure. Just goes to show It’s all personal preference, the majority may think it was the right thing, but there’s plenty who might differ in opinion 😉

Edit* let me also add in that’s Chris Reeve helped (beyond helped) develop both s30v and S35vn. Perhaps 2 of the most well rounded knife steels in existence and the heat treatment of them in his blades matches the quality of his knives. Exquisite.

Love at first sight for me. I ordered as soon as I saw Eric demonstrate it on a Shot Show retailer video on the first day. I carry small, light Spydercos, and have enough knives (like everyone on this forum) to fulfill every conceivable practical purpose. So, the Stovepipe will have to fulfill some impractical purpose :)

Can be used as a screwdriver so it's a multi-tool.

That would get an award for most dangerous screwdriver ever! You'd need to be right over the "screwdriver" part to get a good purchase on the screw. Doing screwdriver action from the handle would be very difficult (and stress the pivot). Imagine a tiny slip of the hand while in "screwdriver" mode. The uses for large standard screwdrivers are getting fewer by the day, as the world converts to philips. So I dunno about the argument of the "horn" having an alternate use as a screwdriver.

My rec: Buy the Stovepipe for its edge, and carry a separate screwdriver.

That was 7 screwdrivers and 1 screw. You feel strongly about this. ;)

This knife would not be something I would want to carry, but it has the same affect on me as the Viele Phoenix another model I wouldn't want to carry, but the design is intriguing and I like to look at it.

True, but the Beavis and Butthead in me likes saying the word "Screwdriver." (Heh heh, he said "Screwdriver.") With my congenital lisp, it comes out "Scwoodwivuh," which is even better.

Beavis and Butt head and The Simpsons. Where has the time gone.

The Stovepipe looks really cool. I love the finish.

I'd really like to check this one out. Just do not have the cheddar at the moment. Gotta save for the Urban.

Got it from spyderco.com as soon as I saw it was shipping. With Opfocus discount, it makes these expensive knives somewhat more palatable. Can't wait to get it in. It is so different than anything else I own, I figured I give it a try.

I dropped into SFO today and held this beauty. It’s awesome…but the price is asinine. I’m probably one of the biggest Spyderco apologists, but this one is insane.

I can get a Randall for these prices…no thanks.

The OpFocus price of $300 is about what it should be selling for to everyone. Oh well! I’ll get one in two years from now once it has been discontinued and discounted.

I saw it as in stock this morning, but it was OOS when I checked just now.

I hope I'll be able to get one when it drops at my preferred dealer.

Edited to add:

And I already see one for sale on e bay for $600. Unbelievable :-||
