I reckon good luck to them! They’re not breaking any laws and we live in capitalist societies. The problem isn’t with the “scalpers”. They’re most likely average Joes trying to make a dollar. The problem lays with the kooks who have to have every new knife released, whether they need it or not, quite an unhealthy obsession, I reckon, and are prepared to pay the premium “scalpers” demand and then whine about it.

This video has Phil Wilson in it I believe

When a man starts talking about spy27 about half way through the video, we dont see who it is but the name Sal Glesser is edited into the bottom right part of the video.

I think everyone's all juiced up on the tanto because it's something totally different from Spyderco. In actual use, it's not very useful. You really have to crank your wrist in uncomfortable way to utilize the tip to penetrate something , say cutting from above and pulling back. Just a different design. That second edge on a tanto works great for opening boxes. I find I don’t have to twist my wrist like you’re saying. You can see here with a tanto and the angle of my forearm:

Of course, that’s an exaggerated image because you don’t really need to go at a box at such a steep angle to make your cut as seen here:



But the same goes for the tanto. Plus it looks good and you have a nice strong point for piercing as well as scraping:



I don’t know if you’ve ever owned a tanto but you might want to give it a try if you haven’t. For and EDC I’ll definitely take a more standard blade shape, but tantos have their uses.

You did notice he said "to use the tip to penetrate something" and the tip is not even close to that box, didn't you? Using the transition to slash is not the same as using the tip to penetrate. But who cares, anyway. You either like tantos or you don't. I carried one for years, used it for everything and beat the **** out of it. I still don't like 'em. And for the "stronger tip" crowd, I snapped a quarter inch off the tip thrusting straight into 3/8" drywall even though I had used the tip to pry out staples. Sometimes things happen.

Yes I know he said the tip. I’m demonstrating that you don’t need to. But if you want to it’s there. :rolleyes:

I think they don´t show everything in such vids that actually could be seen if you actually attended the shows.

For example I read somewhere (not this forum) that there was a PM2 wharncliff prototype exhibited at the boot (of course I can´t confirm that) - no mention of that one either in any vid.

Thanks for posting the vids!!! Still interested in what else was being introduced at Shot Show so end up spending a couple hours on youtube anyways, but this certainly simplifies the Spyderco portion of the searching.

Excited to see the 828 U 20 has finally made it to market... it has been a five year wait. Now to get my hands on one to see if it is everything I've thought it would be.... wish I could go to that show someday!

Back to Spyderco ... I've never been attracted to the Yojimbo but was enthralled with the fully blacked out version; need to get my hands on one and check it out!!! Think the Yojimbo fans have got to be going nuts. I'm so naive i even had to look up the name to find its meaning.

I'll bet E-Man gets tired of saying the same things over and over for different retailers' vids.

Excited about the upcoming Siren release. I believe to have heard that the black/blue handle color combo will be the first among others to come. Might as well show some extra patience. Yellow, Orange/Black would be even nicer color combos.

A SE version would be interesting as well. Hope it sells well...
