What about the dragonfly as a pattern for a classy gents folder?
Thank you for a picture and link. This is much better. Still is hard to beat nice wood, bone or stag in my book.GoldenSpydie wrote:Here is the USA Knifemaker page where I got the picture for the Photoshop: http://usaknifemaker.com/handle-materia ... -cell.html" target="_blank
Here is what it looks like when polished; picture taken from the same page:
Sorry, not a big fan. I used to own couple. CF and acid etched variants. I liked acid etched until one day I saw it next to my Kopa. Kopa proportions and no swedge blade look so much better for me. If this would be up to me I would rather go with Chaparral than Dragonfly. Also Chaparral has thinner blade.bearfacedkiller wrote:What about the dragonfly as a pattern for a classy gents folder?
I prefer the ergos of the Kopa and Chaparral, but we know from the Micro Dyads and the bostered Stretch I love dearly that G Sakai can do a beautiful job with bolsters and scales, so I guess it would be possible.bearfacedkiller wrote:What about the dragonfly as a pattern for a classy gents folder?

Not my first choice either, not even my tenth, although some colors are more appealing than others. Plus, I've hear reports of the resin breaking out of the outermost, partial, tubes. OTOH, I doubt we'll find any one material everyone who would otherwise buy a bolstered Chaparral can agree on. Heck, out of the 16 Kopas, there are only four with scales I really love, and one of those only because of its "after market" embellishment.Ignaz wrote:Thanks for the info. I figure out two: Cocobolo and Evrina. What are others, if not a secret? The Deacon wrote: Heck, out of the 16 Kopas, there are only four with scales I really love, and one of those only because of its "after market" embellishment.
You figured correctly, Roman, and the other two are no secret, they're the amber/brown jigged bone and giraffe bone.bh49 wrote:I figure out two: Cocobolo and Evrina. What are others, if not a secret?
OK Roman, stand by while I find a space to rent and get my tooling configured and make arrangements with some suppliers and locate the proper artisans … can't seem to find the right "filters" in Photoshop to take care of those things for me!bh49 wrote:" … I love these and will buy all four (these two and two from previous picture), if they sufficiently spaced in time … "
These all look great edge. I much prefer something organic for my covers. C-Tek is something I have always felt made knives look cheap. Even the elegant ones shown above don't seem as elegant as they could with some curly Koa or the like. That's just my $.02On Edge wrote:OK, a few more with wood … (then I'll quit, I promise - having a little too much fun … )
