I get that. It seems that every new steel I try, it doesn't serve me as well as K390. Maybe I'm prejudiced, but I'm trying to be open minded.

It would be a very nice version indeed.
But there is a reason why we never see US models in the typical Seki steels. So i fear it will never come further then an idea.

Not quite sure, I feel like I just miss an “era” of spyderco, from like late 90s early 2000s, more eclectic and interesting collaboration designs, and more models from sal and Eric also from that era I love. I miss the Moki spydercos.. give me vg10, with beautiful handle fit and finish, linen micarta, bolsters. I’d take that over frn and g10 with an exotic steel any time. But honestly I’m fine, I’m satisfied with all the amazing models they’ve released in the past, I’m fine with no more calys in future production, I’m fine being apart of the diehard minority that gets the calypso family, while mostly everyone else keeps looking forward to a new steel flavor color combo in a best selling model. Luckily there’s an internet and secondary market, where if I ever break or lose my calys I can just replace them that way. Who knows, I’m sure a new release will come out eventually that’ll make me jump on it. But if not, I’m all good.

I’d like to see:

1) some more big old CE or SE fixed blades in corrosion resistant steels.

2) some big old folders (more than 4 inches of sharpened edge).

C) a lil native back lock salt in SE .

iv) the Chinook 5.

5) an SE Manix or Manix XL

Realistically I’m sure I’ll find several delights to try out no matter what. Variety is the spice of life after all.

I didn't know I wanted this, but what you're ordering is almost exactly how I vaguely described my interpretation of a "Truckers knife" to Sal.

Only problem... I'm not a trucker, but I think that would still be a nice addition to the lineup. For truckers and otherwise.
If I could add handle forward as well as a handle that is no longer than necessary to cover the tip (for shortest possible closed length and convenient carry) to the wish list, that would sure be appreciated, but by no means a necessity.

Most of all: new and hopefully even some resurrected/updated backlock models (e.g. Caly series) including more variants of the updated Centofante.

FFG S2XL salt (preferably also in CE)
FFG Enuff 2 salt, same blade shape as the current VG10/k390 (not sheepsfoot as the Enuff 1)
