Thanks TazKristi! I'm sure that we will all try to keep comments more positive in relation to Spyderco and their (our) dealers.

I will probably try to get a CC#ed blue G10 Domino, but if I miss out on those, I will go for one direct from Bento.

Thanx much to Spyderco and the dealers that bring us such great exclusives. :)

The more consecutive xclusives they get in such a relatively short span the more this is likely. Typically though, commissioning exclusives from what I understand is all on the dealer.

Im sure BBS reads these threads and gets a kick out of it. Obviously has deep pockets so commission more why not. A lot of their exclusive ideas are from those posted and discussed by members here. Very savvy. Indeed.

If I had the money, I'd be all over this one. Personally, I like Spyderco blue, and don't mind that it might look a little grubby after use. It stands out from the army of black handled knives out there.

This is pretty much why I have quit purchasing black handled knives. Quit honestly I feel they are boring. If a knife has a black handle it has to have something else really cool about it to make me want to purchase it.

All very good points. But, for roughly $180 a man can get the Domino Blue Weave CF w/XHP.
And lemme tell ya, its magnificent. And the XHP cuts very well imo.

True, but the blue CF doesn't look that much different from the regular CF in the pics that I've seen.

Going by aesthetics, I'd take the blue CF over all the other CF laminates they have done so far though. Here's a pic. http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthre ... post948545

And another: http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/dtosnN1OyNo/maxresdefault.jpg

For $180 you get a more premium scale that costs more to produce.

But you get a lesser steel. And Spydercos really show their design best when used, not when displayed. So a better steel is much higher in priority for me than a "more expensive" scale.

Plus, I like blue G10. ;)

Yes Capt. Obvious :p Which leads to this... It's literally a $100 premium for the 204P given the downgrade (costwise to produce) of the standard G10 scale.

Regarding "The more expensive scale"... My point is that it costs more to produce.... It is more expensive. I'm not talking about inherent value like "Oh this is better because it is more expensive". Im talking it is a DOWNGRADE COSTWISE TO PRODUCE.

...And many MANY people USE knives like the GB and Sage1 with carbon fiber. I dont see what the "use not display" dialogue is for.

I happen to use a Sage 1 myself...

The point was that I would rather have the better steel over the better scale. If the Sage 1 came in blue G10 and a better steel, I would have gone for that version instead of the CF. I don't mind pretty knives--we all enjoy the beautiful Spydercos.

Different things will make different people happy, obviously. In any given knife, I would rather have a better steel than a prettier scale. And finally, I actually like the looks of the bright blue G10 better than the blue CF.

Even my user Mule is blue G10. I like them both. Hope more blue G10 and blue CF laminate comes down the road. Blue G10 usually means comparatively ridiculous price bumps these days though  :o

I'm thinking that it probably doesn't cost that much less to make one with blue G-10. The upgrade in steel, coupled with what I'm assuming has to be a low volume, and the fact it is a dealer exclusive, I can see why it costs more.

FCM415,

Thanks for those pics. They show the contrast better then the dealer pics I've seen. If it were possible for them to use the blue fiber for the entire handle, rather than just as a highlight, I would be more likely to go for that version.

Isn't the carbon fiber on the Domino just a thin layer on top of G-10?

No worries!! I actually had a good laugh when I clicked on FCM415's link... Just wish I could post pics as nice as some of the pros on this site (Mr. Blonde, MarcusH, etc). Some of mine don't do these beauties enough due justice.

Yup, you can really see the surface layer in the pic above. The original scale is likewise a CF overlay, as I understand.
