Ya know, that is a far better proposition! Although, the novelty of the actually coin would be pretty cool, for all practical purposes that would be the most logical.

Hi Killer,

When challenged, you have to present your Spyderco Challenge coin. The guys that is not carrying his coin has to buy the drinks for the group.

On the concept of a coin, we are expecting a prototype next week. It will be dated (2015) with some stuff on it. If well received, we'll make a 2016 coin with different stuff on it.

Definitely very cool Sal. I'm also looking forward to the photo's. I'd love to get my hands on a 2015 coin (I know, it's only a prototype) and a 2016 coin if/when available. Thanks for the update!!

I'd be all over this. Sadly I don't know anyone else that is into this hobby like I am enough to carry a challenge coin but I'll carry it anyway :)

I am a total edc nut and actually geek out on cargo pants and belts as much as knives, lighters, pens and flashlights. I don't even think that I could find a place to carry a coin if I had one. :eek: Maybe in my sock? My wife makes fun of me because when I get home from work and take my pants off they make a loud thud when they hit the ground. My watchpocket already has a zippo or a ladybug 99% of the time. Some people wear challenge coins around their neck but I already wear a sentimental necklace.

If you make it I will carry it.

Maybe we could get a belt pouch to hold it in?

These are honest pocket dumps;

I'm in the same boat as you. I'd also just like to have one anyway. Most likely I'd get two as I've recently got my 10 year old son into collecting knives. He quickly took after me and has a love for Spyderco.. Funny thing is his grandfather (my father in law) got him started very early collecting coins/money... So a Spyderco coin would probably blow his mind!!!

I'll be all over this, even if I don't have anyone to challenge. :D :cool:

After naysaying the idea, of course I'll be picking one up as a piece of spyderco memorabilia. The knives will always be my favorite things to collect and use, but there is certainly some sentimental value and "cool factor" in things like the pins, or the laser cut plastic spydies we got in the calendar contest winning boxes.

It will make a great prop for photos, especially the "what are you drinking" thread. :)

An interesting thought. Given that the "spydie hole" is made out of blade steel, I'm not sure how feasible it is to do use it for things like stamping.

This thread seems like a good spot for these pics. My nephew in the USCG gave me this coin, he's currently stationed up in Maine. My father also served as a Coast Guard officer for decades (in the reserves in his later years), and walked in JFK's funeral procession. I carry this coin in the spirit of keeping the two of them safe and sound. Cheers, Radioactive :)

In keeping with the theme...
Some of you may have more interest in one of them more than the others.
