Yeah jmh58 & Donut you guys are right on!! let's just get this idea sold to the decision makers at the Spyderco factory and get it going ASAP. I couldn't agree more. Just getting it produced would be huge in my book. We've needed something jazzy in the Hawkbill department for some time now and this may be the one they would even go for.

And in turn I think it would increase Hawkbill sales overall and make new models of all sizes easier to market as well. Because I'm seeing so much unexpected, mind boggling enthusiasm over the new Ladybug Hawkbill and maybe the smaller models will help sell the idea and get people to also use some of the bigger models that many of us have loved and used for years.

Colored handles is something we can argue about later because getting the idea sold is high priority at this time. A DRAGONFLY HAWKBILL>> it's really starting to grow on me>> and I do believe it might even make a great companion blade just like the Harpy does.

Ok, sounds like we need to start a campaign. I'm thinking someone draws up a sketch and then we all print it out and mail it to Sal. It will be like getting death threats except we're offering to buy stuff :)

Hey guy I want them in both edge types for sure. But you just can't have a hawkbill and not offer it in full Spyderedge. I realize that some people need a plain edged Hawkbill depending on what cutting jobs they do with them. But I can assure you that 80% + will be wanting it in full Spyderedge.

I don't think so. There are a lot of fully serrated hawkbill blades (Salt series f.e.). It would be nice to see a plain edge hawkbill in "old fashioned" VG-10.

The reason I do not like serrations is that you are not able to optimize geometry and grit finish. Take the same knife model, one with serrations and one with plain edge. Sharpen the plain edge at low grit finish and it will cut more agressively than the serrated model.

Hey JD, being the hawkbill lover that I know you are...

I just want to check to make sure you are a member of USN and are paying attention to what's going on over there. o.O

Well "Centurio" I can sure appreciate a guy who disagrees with me>> no problem or hard feelings there at all. Because I have been known to change my mind when proven wrong. But in this case I'm a little bit perplexed as to why you wouldn't want people like myself and others not to have a choice as to which edge type we would happen to prefer? Hey I want all of the Spyderco models to be available in PE>> because I do know that there are jobs where PE does do better. But with all the work I've done with my Spyderedged Hawkbills I couldn't imagine not having one.

Now do keep in mind that before I took a VG-10 Spyderhawk to work with me one afternoon in 2004 ( about the time I joined this great forum) I wasn't really much of a Spyderedged fan either up to that point. But that serrated Spyderhawk got me out of a horrible jam I was in that day with no other tools to rely on. And since then I find I do at least 75% of all my hawkbill cutting jobs with a Spyderedge.

Hey I have no doubt you've done your homework and have a valid reason for preferring the PE Hawkbills>> and that's great if it works for you then more power to you. But why wouldn't you want the rest of us to have a choice as to what we would like to have? Because to give you some insight I have just about every PE Hawkbill Spyderco ever made. I even have a user PE blue handled VG-10 Spyderhawk that I do use occasionally. So it's not like I don't like them at all>> but I've just personally had better luck using the Spyderedged versions myself.

Also I'm interested to know what you use to sharpen your PE Hawkbills with? It's one blade style/geometry that I have a bit of a tough time getting them as sharp as I want and I'm always looking for better ways to sharpen certain blade styles.

I would like to see both versions, you got me wrong. But I'd like to see not only fully serrated models and no plain edge versions. They should be available in BOTH, PE and SE. But f.e. there are so much more serrated only hawkbills. I do not like H1 on plain edge because of edge retention issues.

Now you got me wrong Brother because I too want to see both edge types. I've even given thought as to what a bigger Hawkbill would be like even in combo edge. OH no please don't get me wrong because there are many legitimate needs for PE Hawkbills and I own quite a few of them my own self and won't get rid of any either. I cut my Hawkbill teeth years ago on an older Merlin ATS-55 PE model and I think I still have that bad boy here at the house somewhere.

OH yes indeed I do want to see a selection of PE & SE both. I just hate to see Spyderco making many of these great new models and not offering some of them in Spyderedge  Because there are a lot of uses for both edge types for sure
