I have a '98 Honda Civic dx 4-door, which has been reliable and a very workable (if slightly smaller than I'd prefer inside) solution for my family of 4. Mileage is pretty decent as well - performance is decent on the highway, and actually better off the line since the apparent failure of one of the cats. I also have a '93 Jeep Cherokee 2D 4WD that has been my baby since 2000, that has had the top 50 feet of a pine tree fall directly on it (I popped the roof back up to fix the rear hatch fit with a floor jack and a 4x4), a car crash into it (mostly took out the fog lights and bent the front bumper down a smidge, plus a couple of cracked but unimportant body parts) and a 12-pt (I could be off by a point or 2, after all I was going pretty fast and it was hard to say for certain - but it was quite large) buck run into it at full speed while I was driving, that has saved my behind through floods, bridges out, evasive driving conditions that I have expected to perhaps roll it, and about 140K miles. It looks like I took it to war but I'd rather drive it than anything else (maybe after a couple of smallish repairs are done - the Honda's far superior mileage and the 4 doors along with the fact that only one of the XJ's 2 doors opens from the outside).

Your truck looks great. They are super dependable that's for sure! :D
I wish we had a Toyota as a work-vehicle. But we're stuck with an older Ford Escape. And apparently, the reliability escaped from it.

I had to work a double shift yesterday. Everything was fine during my first shift. Went out to get some food right before my 2nd shift. Turned the SUV off for five minutes, got my food, came back out, and that joke of an SUV was f**king dead!

Had to call up the supervisor at my job site, and he wasn't surprised. That thing is in the shop so often that I've become an expert at driving rental cars. He sent out another security officer to give me a jump start. Poor guy nearly electrocuted himself because the red and the black are so piss poor marked on the Ford. This was around Midnight. I apologized that he had to come out there. He told me not to worry about it and that "after all, it's a Ford."

Ironically, the car I drove for nearly 7 1/2 years was a '98 Ford Escort. She never let me down... But then again, the Mazda influence was huge! So after some idiot totalled my Escort, I went out and got an '09 Mazda 6 (V6). It's only been a few months, but I'm happy.

wow man I really like your taste in cars! haha I have been toying with the idea of an STI or an EVO but just think I'm going to keep the GT. Something about those STI's has always attracted me... Im hoping to procharge it sometime in the future. Long tube headers and an off road xpipe are next in line for it though! :)

Indeed.

Though, you gotta look to what each company is good at. Ford was never really that good at making small cars or trucks. I think that's why they're bringing the Fiesta over from Europe.

As for the larger cars and trucks, I don't think you can get much better. My crown vic is a Police Interceptor, and it has many miles on it. The only problem I ever had was that the bearing went out on the belt tensioner pulley and started grinding into the timing cover. It still got me home from the middle of Iowa with no real problems before I got to fix it.

Thats true!

Way I look at it Ford F150 is holding it down pretty solid, and of course the Mustang is always a gold mine for Ford lol And hey they are still holding out without bail out money :) so thats a good thing. (cross fingers)

Wish I'd gotten one of the '08/'09 Mustang Bullitts when they were around new. Not a great interior, but an all around sweet car, and my favorite Mustang. Love that 'sleeper' look, great sounding exhaust note, and one of the only cars in the world I think looks good in green. :D

I totally agree with you! I really wanted the Bullitt but When I went to get my mustang initially I was going to buy a 2008 Automatic GT in vista blue, but i ended up finding an 07 they offered a good rebate on it and it was a 5 speed with the 1000 watt shaker system and silver stripes already on it so I went with that :D
But they were not coming off the sticker of those bullitts... In Wichita they had people paying over MSRP for them so they were selling for 40 grand! Which was out of my range :( I love the overall look of that car though your 100% right, it looks sleeper to people who don't know alot about them! A guy in the Mustang club I run around with has one and its just a mean car.

What do y'all (StangBang in particular) think of the 2010 Mustang?

I have mixed emotions about it  but here is my rundown.

From the front I think they did a good job making it look more aggressive with the hunkered down hood over the fog lights as well as the "power bulge" hood as they coined it. Im still unsure as to which front end i like better the 05-09 or the 2010's.... The side profile i really like because its similar to mine but looks more broad shouldered if you will, and is still a throwback to the ol' 67-69.

The rear end is what gets me in a fuss. I don't like how bubbly it is and the tail lights look to European to me and don't resemble much muscle. The nice thing about the back tail lights though is that they are L.E.D. and sequential so they are a lot brighter and look way cooler when they are signaling. Another bad thing about them is the ABS black plastic panels they put on the bottom bumper it just is too much plastic and looks cheap.

Another thing I am a little disappointed with is the mere 15 hp increase it saw over the 05-09. DO NOT get me wrong though the 4.6 24 valve SOHC V8 is a strong contender and is insanely tunable!!!! (Mine saw a 42 rear wheel hp increase with just an aftermarket cold air intake, Mass air flow chip, and axleback exhaust!) Car and Driver even rates the 2010 Mustang GT (315HP) over the 2010 Camaro SS (426HP) and the 2009 Challenger R/T (376HP)!!! The performance aspects are better in the magazine articles because of the "track pack" upgrade which is a 3.73 gear swap. The improvements the motor saw was the factory's idea of a cold air intake and a strut tower brace. (which they took from the bullitt surprisingly enough) Honestly the new mustang holds its own with its competitors and is just a tenth of a second slower in 0-60 VS the Camaro even with 111 less horsepower (4.8 for camaro vs 4.9 for mustang) It's all about the power to weight ratio with these cars.

The interior is where the Mustang really shines in improvements in my book, all the hard paneling seen in the 05-09 is now a softer material, you can get colored stripes and stitches in the seats. Seats are more comfortable the dash looks and feels better and the cabin is quieter. Another cool thing is the light up guages, doorsills, cupholders, and footwells! Which can all change to whichever color you choose!

Sorry that was a bit long :o but I just had to get it all out lol All in all if your considering buying one go for it! (it's also the cheapest out of the 3 musclecars out now) :D
(FYI: Numbers such as 0-60 and hp were from Car and driver however the rest was just from my knowledge of what I have read and from what I have seen)

I wonder how the V6 Camaro stacks up against the Mustang V8. Horsepower is nearly the same, don't know about the torque though.I test drove one from the local chevy dealer, and it is a pretty quick car.Neither of these is a SRT 10 Viper,Im sorry guys but the Viper is as close as you are going to get to a race car for the street. The chassis is practically a racecar design.I have worked on and driven quite a few of them, and the newest generation SRT10 is a blast to drive.Anything that will do 140 in third like it ain't no thang is a fairly bad ride.

My buddy is a die hard chevy guy and has been smack talking about the 304 HP V6 Camaro and how it will "keep up" with the GT. While it definitely has the horsepower to say its in the same class it still isn't. 0-60 is 6.1 and its geared differently for fuel economy plus it is between 3 and 400 pounds heavier than the Mustang GT, so I'm just waiting for a punk to start smack talking on me with his V6. Don't get me wrong I really like the new camaro and the camaro all around, and a 304 hp V6 is nothing to frown at! But a fully loaded V6 is 32 grand... thats pretty much a fully loaded Mustang GT so to me it doesn't make sense. But I do like the new camaro! I saw a black SS the other day and it looked sharp! didn't get to hear it though :(

Man your lucky.... all I have done is drool over vipers :o lol they sure are race cars though! but for the money you would expect it! Can't even compare it to a Pony car those things are super cars :D lol I'm jealous you have gotten to take that beautiful machine out on the road....

Yeah they are pretty fun and Chrysler said we had to drive every car at least 10 miles after repair work. :D Like I needed a reason  The Srt10 does not even go to WOT in first, but when you bang second, It's on. To me the older GTS ACR coupes were the most nimble and quickest of the older body style. They were the more hardcore/lightweight model, made for track days.
On the new Camaro...Weight has always been the problem.Just think back to 1992 when you could get a Fox coupe 5.0 ,5sp and strip the carpet, sound insulation, and passenger seat out of the thing and it weighed like 2900 pounds. ;) with 225 horsepower a set of 3.55 gears would run a low 13 high 12 with a good driver. On the other hand a 1992 Camaro with a tuned port 350 and 245 horsepower could not hang with a 5.0 due to weight. You could strip it down the same as the 5.0 and still not be anywhere near the same weight.and your right, Mustangs have always been less expensive than the Camaro.
My brother in law just bought a brand new GT500, haven't got to ride in it yet, but I be it's quick. He won't let me drive it, because he knows I would probably scare him to death. ;)
A buddy of mine and I built a 85 Monte carlo ss drag car several years ago that would run a 9.90 in the quarter. When it left it would yank the front tires waist high of the ground, after riding in that thing, nothing really scares me anymore.Come off that Trans brake at 4500 and your looking at the clouds, if you know what I'm saying. ;)

Ahh darn you have to drive em around huh... ;)
the GTS ACR was the 99 or so body style right? I don't know what all years it ran through but if so man i agree! I honestly still like the styling of those a little better as well.... But I would love to have one period!!!!
OHHH ya man! A couple of my buddies have fox bodies and they are crazy! I would love to see Ford put a Modular 5.0 in the next generation Mustang (hopefully the back looks better) lol But one of em has the fox on a single turbo setup and I loved getting to ride in that thing! When I rode in it he was pushing 9 psi I believe and its what he ran mid 11's in it, he said he has had it down to 10.5! It's for sale now but I just don't have room or money lol I agree though its not always about having the higher horsepower numbers and the larger motor!
Oh what I would do to have a GT500... Those things are sick and mod up very easy! Let me know when he finally breaks and lets you take it loose  ;)
Wow I bet! I haven't had the opportunity to ride in anything that fast... But I can only imagine what that felt like! :D When we were on the road in the Fox it went sideways immediately and when it hooked it felt awesome! He had drag radials on it at the time and wasn't launching it at the track but I wonder if it could of lifted those wheels!
