Unfortunately... that's all folks. These are all the models that made it to my improvised photo studio in Nuremberg. The Manix II is missing, because it was firmly in Eric's pocket for testing and evaluation.

It was a lot fun doing it, and I hope I did the knives justice. Thank so much for looking. Now I'll have the time to actually read the various posts. :D

Thanks,

Wouter

Wouter,

Your pictures are always first rate and fantastic. Thanks for the time and skill you put into your photo summaries.

My only complaint about your style: these always look so good they make me spend more money. :D

It's a hidden stop pin, held in place by two recessed holes in the handle scales.

Thank you very much travelling to Nürnberg and for all your work and enthousiasm. We highly appreciate your commitment to Spyderco.
B.t.w. watch your mailbox for a little something....
See You soon!
Jur. :D
Thank you Jur, it was a hoot and a half to be able to do it all. You have a second career coming in online sales; does Telsell still exist on TV? :D ;)

Awesome pics, Brotha!

Wish you could have pried that Manix out of Eric's pocket for a shot!

Wow, there are alot of nice knives coming out!!

The bushcraft looks real nice with those burled maple handles... I wondered what the production ones would look like when I read the spec. I may have to get a hold of one to compare to my Bark River Aurora.

The chicago and cat look like real nice office friendly options, I may have to pick up one for when my Caly is a tad too large for the situation.

The FRN Stretch looks like a good work knife for when I have to make a HD trip and don't feel comfortable with one of my BRKT Fixed blades on my belt.

I love the look of the CF Kopa but I find I don't carry my Black Quince one all that often. It seems like a formal knife to me and the silver clip just doesn't work with black/dark pants.

I think I will have to save up for the RIL Sage, it will be the perfect compliment for my Caly III. The silver clip and light titanium scales will go better clipped to light pants, where the caly's dark clip sticks out too much.

The ZDP version is fitted to a blue handle, that's the exact same shade of blue as the first run of ZDP 189 Delicas.

Actually, it was just a tad 'brighter' then my ZDP Delica when I held them side by side ... but they sure did make a nice pair :)

You just need to clean your knife once in a while. ;) :D

I'd love to take some comparison pics though. :D

Terzuola Slipit

#93

Post by Mr Blonde »

Apparently there was a little confusion, but the Terzuola slipit is indeed a 'production prototype'. Until recently this was still a concept model, which Spyderco prefers not to show because of possible major changes to the model, or that competitors run off with it. It can take a long time to make a good knife that performs and that the ELU actually likes. That is why some concept models take a few years before they become production models. However, this Terzuola design is definitely planned for production.

The blade is S30V and around 3 inches long. This knife uses a different technology to achieve the desired resistance in this lockless design. Inside the handle is a ball joint that gives the resistance needed in the closing of this knife. I got the feeling that it worked just as well as a regular Urban or UKPK, perhaps this Terzuola design is a little smoother to open and close. The carbon fiber seemed to be finished in the same way (that twill carbon fiber finish) as on the first Sage. I like it a lot. Note that the clip is left/right reversible, and that it uses only two screws to attacht it to the handle. Isn't that a spyderco first since their earliest models?

I saw and handled this design last year and back then I was a bit on the fence about this model. The opening and closing action seemed a bit gritty. Now it's refined into a very smooth opening folder. Finally a slipit for the boardroom and the office!

Very nice models the less intresting model for my taste its the terzuola model, Sage II and Polivog II are great like the orange rescue UK and of course leafstorm. Also dragonfly the definitively model with wire clip will be perfect.
I see spyderco increased use of wire clip and im a wire clip fun so im glad
and increase the Reeve lock too. Never i had a Reeve lock so i cant judge..
I just tried some models in my hands.

Sage II - Chicago - Cat and Chokwe will be assenbled in Taiwan or outside US?

PS great thanks to MR Wouter.

Mr. Blonde - Thank you BTW for all the kicka#$ pics and vids.

Question - Any word on the Chicago and Cat models getting the same lock variations as the sage model? I sure would love to see a small Ti (or SS) RIL Chicago to alternate with my beloved cricket.
