I joined this forum just to say how awesome this idea is. I have been a strong advocate for the hawkbill design ever since I got a CRKT bear claw about 8 years ago. Since then I've discovered spyderco and bought as many as I can afford. I never got a chance at the Spyderhawk, but carry a crossbill SE for work, while my Civilian backed up with my Endura get carried when Im not at work. I would buy atleast 2 H1 Spyderhawks one in SE and PE each.

To back up a few other suggestions made in this thread.
First a functional reversed "S" blade would be awesome. I full belly near the base would allow you to do everything that a regualar leaf blade or cliff-point blade could do while having the great cutting advantage of a hawkbill near the tip. I think the popularity of the cricket has shown the advantage of this design and the customer base for a larger model.

Second the idea of an updated rescue knife I think would be great.A blunt tip hawkbill would be great to complement the Assist and other knives in the rescue line. Especially since it is easier to get the tip of a hawkbill into a tight space than a sheeps foot blade. Combine that with the features of the Assist handle and you have a winner in my book.

First of all "DMgang" I personally want to extend you a very warm welcome to the Spyderco.com Forum :) Second: I can't thank you enough for your support of our ongoing Hawkbill knife projects we have undertaken. It's like I've said time after time that the people truly do want a New Hawkbill. And I mean a series of them and not just one or 2 particular models. This new Forum member I believe is one of many onlookers who are really gaging as to whether or not to go out and get another one of these great utility blades to make his/her workday much more efficient.

This post alone should be a testament and a barometer as well to reflect that the people do indeed like Spyderco Hawkbills and they very much want to see this pipeline of great Hawkbill blades continue and grow. ;)

But before I close this post DMgang I would like to ask you if you had the wherewithal to purchase any new Spyderco blade at this time which one would you get today, at this time? Also how much would you say that you use a Hawkbill blade compared to a standard blade design folder percentage wise. For instance throughout the day I typically use my Hawkbill as a backup blade at least 30 to 35% of the time. Thank you again and we hope you have a great time during your stay here at Spyderville :)

I'd go for a PE version. Give it the jimping used on the Caly 3 and release it in many FRN colors as well.

I really hope the H1 spyderhawk will become a reality.

When I use my Tasman SE,there are times I wish it was bigger, cause it would make the task I'm doing alot easier.

I work as a machinist in a shop that makes molds. A lot of my parts are half-round material either in shrink wrap or heavy zip ties. The majority of my cutting it heavy material. I also use the tip for very precise cutting. I would say while at work I use my hawkbill for nearly every task. I do have a small Finch to back up my Crossbill and play with.

As to buying a new knife, do you mean any of the new designs or just new to me knives. Well I have three main knives I am going to get in the next few months. The Harpy, Police 3, and the cricket.

Personally, I very much like the sound of this. I have a couple of Rescues that have been reground to wharncliffes and really like them, so a Superhawk shaped blade in H1, plain edged, with a Rescue shaped handle, in some non-black FRN (maybe a dark teal / deep ocean blue/green ??) is basically my dream Spyderco EDC.

Well there's new interest in it now Slice :D One of the Brothers launched a thread this morning saying that he heard it was the SUPERHAWK to be redone in H-1 blade steel

So I thought it very necessary to thump this thread back up to let everyone know that it is the C-77 Spyderhawk that brother Clovisc was talking about.

So far all of you who missed this thread the first go-around then this is your chance to get up to speed on this great idea. Let's hope that Spyderco will see the enthusiasm for this newly proposed, H-1 Hawkbill.

H1 Spyderhawk

I'm in! I would prefer to keep all of the original specs of the superhawk except for the jimping on the spine. I would be very aggressive with this as a prevention of slippage around water and other liquids. I'm not sure if it would be a hge money maker but i'll probably buy 2 plain edge and 2 serrated, just to have the safe queens for the collection as well as users.

I am defiantly in on this. Spyderco should not delay as this could be one of their most successful models. Like some people have said on this thread I love my tasman but I would love a bigger blade. When and if Spyderco releases this ill take a Yellow SE!

Can't wait for this. Keep sticking together on this and lets make it happen!!!!!!

I don't know about most of you,but I would much prefer the new H1 spyderhawk in black, simply because I plan on using it on a regular basis and do not want a bright yellow handle drawing attention when carrying it.

If the H1 spyderhawk does become a reality(I really hope it does),perhaps the good folks at Spyderco could make a black and yellow handle, just to satisfy everyone.

OH I can go along with that 100%. That only makes sense when you think about it because that's exactly what they're already doing with the Tasman. Personally I prefer those yellow handles because in my type of work there have been 2 occasions where if I hadn't have had a yellow handle I would have certainly lost the knife. Also your fishermen and seafaring users have a much easier time finding a bright yellow knife if it falls into the water.

But I can see your case too because you can't go wrong with a black handle folder. It's a universal color so what the heck? There are people who hate the color yellow for whatever reason so that would cure a lot of problems.

i'd be content with black, but i love and prefer yellow. more NKP-friendly, and it has saved me from losing a knife more than a few times.

I'm guessing there is a 99.999% chance Spyderco would come out with a black and yellow. Almost all of their salt models with FRN (exception: Caspian and rock salt) come in yellow and black. Lets just say I would be very surprised if they only chose one color for the H1 Spyderhawk

JD, Maybe if you can carry yours for a couple of days and tell us what you used this special blade on and how it made your life easier. A day in the life of a Spyderhawk, so to speak. There are skeptics, I can smell it. :D

I think a yellow handle would be nice, but the need for black is certainly there. I doubt if doing both would be a problem though, since Spyderco already does yellow handles that color should be readily available.
