As a sales manager in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) I EDC a Navigator II. ( It works as a sales argument  )
But used mostly to open boxes, demonstrate the quality of cut protection gloves and of Fall Protection lanyards and Harnesses. And sometimes just to show off what sharp means..

As President of the Royal Sharpshooters of the Veluwe (Shooting club) I always carry next to my EDC a Leatherman Charge.

I used to work for Home Depot, and they have a very explicit no knife policy of any kind; no clip-its, no SAKs, No Leatherman Tools, no nothing, just these stupid little safety knifes (HD Orange of course) that used a unpointed utility blade and would only stay open with your thumb on the release...I'd keep the Kiwi in the Watchpocket when I worked there.

Now I am a Stay At Home Dad and I can carry whatever I want, I just gotta be careful slicing bagels with my ATR, I bit myself pretty good once.

My wife works for a Federal Govt. Agency, and when she worked out at their facility in Golden, I used to go visit with a full-size Persian, Manix or G10 Police...Heck I could've taken a HK MP5 or a pound of Semtex for all their rent a cops cared even after 9/11.

But just the other day going to visit her at their new facility downtown I was wanded twice and had to pass through a "sniffer" box that puffs air on you to search for explosives...Wisely all I had that day was a Utili-key on my key ring.

i'm in and out of a lot of different government offices, but my work is kinda independent, and people are glad to have me around, so i can't imagine having any trouble about carrying knives. obviously, i wouldn't take my military to a meeting with the board of suipervisors and spyderdrop it out to sharpen a pencil, though... :D although i did pull out my dragonfly to sharpen a pencil at a TVA meeting, and no one seemed to think anything of it.

i also sometimes ride around with the police as part of my work -- doubt i'd get busted by these coworkers, though... :D

people in virginia generally seem to understand knives. that being said, i don't go out of my way to freak anyone out. usually have a variety on me, mostly around 3", at any given time.

I could show up geared like Doc Snubnose and my boss would just smile. I work on a fish farm so I use a knife constantly. Rotate between Dodo, Delica, and Endura. I leave my Ruger 10-22 at work at all times (keeps my boss' 12 gauge company) and often bring my .223 Remington model 700 to shoot in the shooting range my boss and I set up. So I guess I work in a pretty knife friendly environment.

I work for myself and carry whatever I want wherever I want, and use it, too. There's always the possibility that some client or passer-by might be concerned, but if he can't adapt that's just too bad: I've spent a lot of time structuring my life the way I want it, and public opinion is something I care about very little.

In general, people are a bit knife-unfriendly at my work (since it is a museum, and because in Amsterdam there are a few places were knives are officially banned). Most of my direct colleagues do not really mind about my knives, mostly because I carry a :spyder: Ladybug 2 and a Leatherman P4 (not particularly scary) together with a Photon on a keyring.

And they all know to find me when a box has to be opened, a pair of glasses has to be fixed or any other task you do not want to do with your bare hands. Then it is me to the rescue with my :spyder: Ladybug! :D

My new job is pretty knife friendly, I found one of the supervisors sharpening a switchblade the other day! :D
