I guess it's about time again: What Spydies do you carry at this very moment?
So its probably closer to the thickness of the CF Military then? Weight doesn't really bother me but for EDC I prefer knives that are very thin... I think thats one of the reasons I like the SS Police so much. The Deacon wrote:Am not Zen, but can tell you the CF Police is about 3/32 to 1/8" thicker than the all stainless version, but considerably lighter. The early, unlined, G-10 version offers the best combo of lightness and thinness, but at the price of poor clip retention common to all unlined "plastic" handles when screws are threaded into it (barrel bolt or Dodo style clip mounting works much better).
I really like the BG-42 Military I just got and actually like the handles for a change (I think its because it feels stiffer than the G-10 version I had). The only thing I don't like is how thick it is. I wish they could do the carbon fiber as thin as the SS models or at least very close. If Spyderco could to that I might have a new favorite handle material. I wonder if it would still be strong enough in that thickness (it seems like it would)?

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

Hi Bodie, sorry I didn't back to you, but the Deacon took care of it before I could verify the question. Even if it is slightly thicker than the SS model, the CF Police carries the same IMO. I do have 14 years of SS Police carrying experience to bolster my opinion.Bodieism wrote:So its probably closer to the thickness of the CF Military then? To get back to topic, today I'm carrying a SE Centofante, and PE Yellow Atlantic Salt. If you are going to carry two knives, it seems like a good idea to endeavor to cover different knife needs so there you go. :D (besides I really like all the Centofantes and H1 steel rocks!
Follow the mushin, but pay it no heed.

Slow to change
There are 2 philosophies I tend to lean on: (1) If It Ain't Broke Then Don't Try To Fix It (2) and like my SIGNATURE Says "Whatever Works">> so therefore I still carry the following:
Burgundy Calypso Jr. ZDP-189
PE yellow handled TASMAN H-1
C-44 big Dyad
I love my current line up. It's going to take a steamroller of a blade to unseat any of these in the near future.~~~ JD
