I hope to get one - Long awaited for this one.

Waiting! Trying to invent time travel so
I can leap forward, get one and come back!

Keep checking the secondary markets to find a blue or black dodo to calm me until the orange arrives. No luck so far!

I'm still hoping there will be a second handle color choice offered as well.

Is the dodo going to be a sprint or regular production?

sprint most likely. Production would be nice :)

I too am guessing sprint but I do remember sal in a post saying how Eric was maybe working on an improved model. So don't quote me for sure but maybe someday we could see a new improved production model. Maybe this sprint could be a feeler run to see how it goes??? Foreshadowing the future.... all I know is I can't wait till the new impending catalog release where we will see.

I believe that the orange Dodo is the new and improved version that Eric has been working on. That said, I have a hard time imagining them spending a lot of time doing the new engineering work if it's only a sprint. Seems that it would be hard to recoup the costs involved in the R&D for such a small run. But there was this one time a long time ago that I was wrong about something, so I suppose it's feasible that being wrong could happen again...

Was it that time when you thought you were wrong, but ended up being right?

The orange is still a few months out. We’re planning plain edge on both Sprints. The second run will be Carbon Fiber but most likely won’t come until late 2012 and will be the same number of pieces. We did update our engineering for better quality and consistency. Some changes included a blind pin to the backspacer for strength and a machined spine as opposed to bead blasted.

Thanks for chiming in Eric! I'm glad that there will be time for my bank account to recharge between the two releases.

Thanks Eric! So that means everything else is basically the same? (I.e. blade and handle shape,etc).

Looks like its on pre-order at BladeHQ for $129.

And KC for $128.

seems a bit more than I hoped for, but I'll still buy one. I actually don't know how much the originals went for.

ETA: The original models went for @$85-95 dollars at most retailers. NGK had them for $84.95. When it was discontinued Sierra Trading cleared out the Blue SE for @$55.

What the....? How did that guy get a Dodo already?

Does KC charge for the full price when order is placed or do they bill later? I don't see a deposit.
