I've eyed that Cruwear Boker a few times. How is it? Looks impressive!

You can fix that tip right?
Yes. I will grind the spine down a bit. Should end up looking a bit like the delica tip. But I am ok with that. Pics will follow. :spyder:

Can't get over how much easier the Native Chief is to sharpen over other S30V Models got it cutting little curls.

Sorry for the late reply mate. :o

It’s not a small knife and I can only really comment on the fit and finish thus far which is excellent. It’s pleasantly tactile with an impressively smooth action opening or closing and rock solid lock up free of any play in either plane.

The lock tab is most unusual, sitting proud as it does without being uncomfortable in any particular grip and allows for disengaging the lock by sliding my grip toward the end of the handle and squeezing (fairly hard) with my last three fingers against the ball of my palm. It also came very sharp with a nice even grind. Fair to say I like it more than I’d expected.

As it when, my mum’s youngest sister and my favourite aunt passed away on the Friday it arrived so it’s kind of special. I haven’t really cut too much with it at all yet but I’ll baby it and try to keep it pristine because it’ll always remind me of my dear aunt. :)

Replacing a heating element on a clothes drier, used my Sage compression lock to cut off the wire housing when the pliers wasn't sharp enough...

Is it the shape of the blade do you think?

I am at loss as to what is going on but loving this knife it has not left my pocket since it came in and I have been using it for everything.

Yesterday I was sharpening up the Ikuchi and while it is sharp it does not get like this one when I go to cut paper and that is kind of weird because I use the same tools the same way.

I would say the Ikuchi sharpens for me the way other blades in S30V have and disappointed me.

Weird thing Is I can get my Manix XL super sharp like the Native Chief also just using brown stones.

I thought could it be due to the way the blade is finished? The Ikuchi has a very coarse satin finish compared to the Native Chief and My Manix 2 XL is DLC coated and the coating is slick from use.

Really odd. The only thing I am left with is heat treatment, maybe the Ikuchi were ran much harder?

Our dog wasn't a fan of a groundhog in our backyard a couple hours ago. He must have forgotten the screen door to our slider was closed and blasted right into it. Didn't rip the screen, but forced it loose from the seal around the edge.

I no longer have the rolling wheel/tool used to install a new screen. So I was using my PM2 to pry the seal out and tuck the screen back in...sure enough, the spine of the thumb ramp fit perfectly in the track and made it easy to press the seal back into place. Good as new!

I found a skinny ~4' black snake next to the house during some yard work.

Image

It was tangled very tightly in some leftover landscaping netting, so I used my Rex 45 Military's sharp tip to free the poor thing.

Image

It was still plenty defensive when I carried it to the edge of the yard. I'm glad it still has plenty of life left in it.

Well done! He’s happy you carry a sharp blade! :D

Mirror polished edge reflecting shrubbery/trees or his shirt in the background I'd say.

Good job on keeping that finish after cutting a load of cardboard by the way!

If you have magnification available, try using it to double check your work as you sharpen the Ikuchi. Maybe it was ground a touch thicker at the edge from the factory?

Green glass bottles on the can next to this one that we recycle separately ;)

...and yes Maxament's ability to keep a polished edge is like nothing else! 2 weeks and still going strong! :D
