Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

I tolerated the obtuse and glassy factory edge for a couple of days, but it had to go... I reprofiled and left a toothy DMT F finish, and removed the rattling lanyard tube. Now it’s mine and ready to use.

Glad to hear! Sometimes an unfortunate necessity for a CRK. I hope you can enjoy it properly now.
Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
I agree, great knives! For the price, I'd expect much better edges out of the box though. Thankfully those steels are easy to work with!

Putting it to work... I like the handle. It is neutral, but the lock cutout naturally fits the index finger.
It cuts much better with the reprofiled edge, no surprise.

Glad you nabbed one Hans! I really like my CRK. Something really classy and really built like a little tank that makes it something special.

Thanks Jeff... You are right, it has a rugged and somewhat chunky feel that tells you it was intended to be used. It is also elegant enough to be carried to a dinner. On social media you don't see them often being used to cut actual things, but I reckon I'll give it a fair go to get maximum enjoyment from it.

Yeah CRK, whatever, that RED Pioneer is the BOMB! I carry basically the same thing in silver, a Victorinox DAK from 92, everyday along with whatever other folder I am carrying. I use the dang Victorinox for so many things I can't live without it.

Yea whatever a +$400 knife and get hard over a $30 knife haha. That's interesting.

Sometimes those $30 knives bring $400 worth of joy to the user. I like many knives between $20 - $400.

From my personal experience, I actually carry a Vic Tinker on me everyday and use it often. But I just can't fathom enjoying one as a knife, over a Sebenza. It can definitely be more versatile and there's no questioning that aspect of a Vic.

The cellidor plastic SAK's do nothing for me, but the bomb-proof alox ones ring me bell loud and clear. Versatile, easy to replace, people friendly, very stainless, and they stop me from prying with my real knife in the other pocket.

Cleaning up the Randall #1 some today.

One of my truck drivers had a strap he couldn't release the lock tab on. Said he didn't have a knife and asked if I did...
Pulled out the Zaan and cut through the strap like butter! He said he's never seen a strap cut so clean and easily, and that I'm probably not the right person to mess with haha!

A friend of mine has a Large 31 that I got to check out a couple months ago. Its pretty cool, looks very well done. I just don't think I'm a big tanto guy.Dazen wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 5:09 pmThis will be my next CRK! Hahah, LB...you're absolutely right! It's happened handful of times and feels good every time. Or they will have some cheap gas station knife that's extremely dull and bent, and I'll watch them for about 5-10 seconds before telling them, I've got it haha. It's a cool feeling to see people genuinely surprised and impressed when I've got a fresh edge! This was my first day back to work this week, so that edge was top shelf
