Manix 2 m390 brown g10
Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Endura 4 SE Wharncliffe. Got a set of Denim Micarta scales coming from Ukraine for it, along with a Flytanium titanium backspacer. Should be a sweet combo. I've really been enjoying good ol' VG-10 in SE.
Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Lil’ Native all black CruWear
well I got the knife and unboxed it. It was the sharpest knife out of the box that I have ever gotten. It’s a beautiful knife for its size. But then I made a mistake! And no I did not cut off a finger. I showed it to my daughter. Why, why, why…. Why would I do that? She said “oh that’s cute” and promptly claimed it as hers.
Sometimes I think
I’ll miss her when she leaves for college in August. Other times I think I’m going to miss my knives.

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Got a replacement Spy27 N5 inbound.
Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Unfortunately, I fear it's a Chinese clone of a PM2 Tanto in the mail for me. Advertised as a 'Factory 2nd', after I paid for it I revisited the photos and something just didn't look right. Checking the seller's history, he's been selling Tantos right and left - probably bought a pile of them at $25 each and is slowly releasing them on ebay as 1st quality, but I guess he decided to try one as a Factory 2nd, and I swallowed the hook
...I have taken worse screwings and ebay usually takes care of such problems.
Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
The one on the right arrives Saturday and I'm done with kitchen knives for a while!

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Received all my summer sale buys. Stretch 2 XL is by far my favourite

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
What a haul you made. Yes, that Stretch @ XL is a great one! Enjoy. I'd love them to make that version in LW FRN as well.
I had that PM2 in my cart but they sold out before I completed the transaction. I may get the Purple DLC Cruwear version instead.
My Spy27 N5 was delivered and is waiting for me at home! Yay!
Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Normally I'd say that someone with two Fish Hawks is kinda greedy, but seeing as how one of 'em could tell war stories and the other more refined use, I say congratulations.
Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Those carters sure are nice, aren't they? Great balance and wonderful blade grinds.
Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
They are incredible - I just used the medium one for the first time, to slice vegetables. It was a dream!
I don't need the other two, but if they go on sale for a similar great deal, I'm sure I won't be able to resist.

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
So here's the story: The nice-looking one has a thinner handle, better wood, stiffer thicker blade all the way to the tip - it's made by Moki and is great quality. It is the only Moki-made FishHawk I've found and it's a superb knife.
You will see a few on ebay, made by Suzuki - some are NOS. I wanted to buy one for my brother, but found this used Suzuki with box, sheath, papers, so I figured I'd give it a try. It turns out to be a piece of garbage. The papers say it's SS, but no way - there were rust bumps and pitting all over it. The end of the blade is very flexible - they say so that it fillets better, but it's really not so great. The quality just isn't there. I spent hours sanding and sharpening. There were chips all along the edge - I sanded many of them off, but decided to just use the knife and let the remaining edge issues go away as I sharpen it. The knife works fine, but just not as good as the Moki.
So now I know - avoid the Suzuki-made Lakota fishhawks. I think Lakota contracted out to ~4 different Seki knife-makers over the years. I can only vouch for Moki.

The Tanto just arrived, and is a clone. I posted photos in the 'Counterfeits, Clones...' sub-forum:HolySteel wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 1:01 pmUnfortunately, I fear it's a Chinese clone of a PM2 Tanto in the mail for me. Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
Oh, wow. I know they used several Japanese makers, but didn't know about the Suzuki POS. I thought they only used some pretty distinguished makers of that time period. Mine is Sei Kanematsu, Seki City. Appreciate the info and history lesson.HolySteel wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 6:45 pmSo here's the story: The nice-looking one has a thinner handle, better wood, stiffer thicker blade all the way to the tip - it's made by Moki and is great quality. Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
I got a decade long grail coming soon. I'm very excited. It's been quite awhile since I got myself something .
My first Civilian. I've gave a matriarch 5 years or more of hard use and i trust the blade shape way more than I did. It works better than it looks and it looks dam good.
I'm glad I wanted and used a matriarch first.
I'm actually going to edc it most of the time. I'm disabled and I don't use my gear very hard I plane to pair it with a sak that will see most of the use and the civilian will help me feel a little more confident when I'm on dog walks etc.
Man I hope that mail travels fast...

My seconds PM2 Maxamet. Still with USPS but no scan for about 4 days now. And then it needs to ship to the Netherlands.
