I do remember that show. I watched part of one on YouTube a couple of months ago. How about Sugarfoot and Laramie?

1973 Audience Reactions to The Exorcist

Obviously, this movie is nowhere near being forgotten; IMO, it's one of the greatest movies of all time, regardless of genre. But the shock that many experienced seeing it back then is unforgettable.

I didn't see it until 5 years later, when I was 15. But my older brother saw it when it first came out in theaters, and he was pretty freaked out by it.

When I first saw The Exorcist in 1978, at age 15, I felt fine. I knew that if it were something that was happening to ME, it would be terrifying. And the movie has real atmosphere and great acting. But it did not disturb me, and it didn't haunt me like it did my older brother. The same is true today. I do not scare as easily as he does. Which is ironic, because when I was around 3 or 4 years old, my brother would sometimes force me to watch Frankenstein and other horror movies on TV with him in order to scare me (which only worked for a very short time).

Gen Z First Time Watching AL Bundy's Best Insullts

This is virtually a perfect stereotype (right down to the purple hair) of how I see many (but definitely not all!) members of the current younger generations' responses to previous generations' humor. EVERYONE was made fun of, and very few people had a prudish attitude over it.

Jim,

Married with Children is satire, not to be taken seriously, it's a comedy.

Like All in the Family as another example, same deal.

People get carried away to carried over basically nothing.

The people who get offended by Married With Children are not aware that most of the insults that Al Bundy leveled at the overweight women in the show were written by those overweight women themselves, many of whom were comedians.

Jim,

MOST people as in almost all never actually check out anything before getting offended and or posting comments.

I actually tried to watch that Blue Bloods spin off Boston Blue. It looked promising and has Donnie Walburg in it as Danny Regan.

I turned it off in like 5 mins due to what we had talked about before, the issues with the new shows etc.

They had a room full of male detectives looking into a murder, some young female minority detective walks into the room and somehow is automatically the smartest person in the room. Like all the men are idiots and have no clue. It was extremely predictable and in your face. :eye-roll

Click... I will never watch it again, not for a second. :eye-roll

I tried, I gave it a chance until it turned me off with that BS.

Yeah, I cannot watch that kinda stuff either. I really started noticing that on TV, in movies, and in a lot of commercials back in the '90s. It's been constantly ramping up since then.

Funny that Hollyweird is upset that viewership of such movies and shows, and tickets sales of Hollyweird movies in general, continue to plummet. A lot of which is because people are fed up with this nonsense. Yet they continue to double down. It's almost as if it's intentional self-sabotage.

Neither are they creative. Everything now is a sequel, a spinoff, or a reboot.

To be fair, I have no problem with strong female characters. The movies I like that have them are not the agenda-driven tripe that is everywhere now.

I do believe what many are saying, that Hollyweird is in critical condition or dead. The whole "movie star" and celebrity thing is done. "A-list actors" whose movies used to make big box office are now bombing in movie after movie.

The best movies now, and at least for the past decade and a half (IMO), have been coming out of South Korea and Japan.

There are a few newer movies that stand out for me.

Abigail 2024 for one if you like horror movies, great plot, story, acting, just an all around great movie, one of the best movies I have seen in decades. It has some humor in it too, and the cast is great.

Don't Look Up 2021 Another really good well made movie, great cast, acting etc.

Megan 2022. Interesting movie about AI, it's entertaining.

Haven't seen those yet.

The best (fairly recent) horror movie I have seen that I can name off the top of my head is Hereditary (2018). Not many current horror movies that I've seen up until several years ago contain real slow-burn atmosphere like Hereditary. It felt kind of old-school in that regard. Would I watch it again? Probably not. But it was very well-made, IMO.

Best ad - I don’t even know what was being advertised, but the theme of the ad seemed to be about passed up opportunities.
A guy in a 60s Mustang pulls up to a garage in an alley and yells “Hey, Woz, Jobs”, two guys come out of the garage and say hi what’s up? The guy says “we just finished that job early and we all got a $250 bonus”. “What are you guys up to? They say “we’re working on making a computer for the home so everyone can have one. We could really use some more money, if you’re willing to invest that $250 with us, we’d cut you in on any of the profits”. The Mustang guy says “let me think about it, I’ll tell you tomorrow “
The scene cuts to the next day when the Mustang pulls up again to the garage this time with a young lady in the passenger seat, honks, and Woz and Jobs come out, say hello, then ask “so, what do you think about going in with us? The guy holds an audio cassette out the window and says “New eight track”!
(I know, a lot of you people are wondering, what’s an Eight Track?) google it.
