Sprint or new model...that is the question :)

Sal did say sprint which makes me think that its going to be just like the original dodo. I have absolutely no problem with that as long as it's in some novelty color like orange or natural G10. They probably wouldn't need to re-tool to change it to a BBL so that may be a change also.

Thinking ahead... Sorry kids, your college funds haven't matured yet, because back in 2011 Spyderco released the Dodo, Yojimbo and Ayoob all in the same year. Oh well, you could always join the Corps. : )

"a sprint run...?" yikes i can hear it now...

i forsee many "limit one per customer" at all the leading dealers!
(make friends with them now. call before p/o's come up...call jeff and ally and just ask)
so my advice to any newcomers is order "one" at "each" and hope for the best....

...and if you wind up with three or four coming through no problem just wait a month or two then sell them and get your money back and then some! then those who missed out get them too.

that's what i am going to do. i missed out on it the first time, I WON'T BE MADE A FOOL AGAIN!

:D (buying multiples of a sprint, if "ok" in any case, this is it!) :D

Gotta say that the Dodo has never really "done" it for me ... it looks very quirky, which is kinda nice ... makes me look and want to hold one. But I just don't know what use the design really favours ... the point looks like it would really be a great box opener but the S-shaped edge and thick blade would suggest it is a bad slicer. Is it best as a self-defense knife or does it have EDC uses? :S

I don't think it's really suited for SD (that's more for matriarch or civilian sized reverse s blades). I think it'd be good for EDC..similar to cricket but larger. The only task I see it having shortcoming for would be food prep (as you said, slicing isn't its thing). However, opening packages, cutting rope, trimming vines or branches etc. would all be tasks I'd imagine it'd excel at. Like you said, it has a sharp and exposed tip that's great for opening stuff, but also has the inward curve like a hawkbill that's suited for cutting rope, vines, branches etc. and then the bit of belly at the bottom that can slice what the inward curve has gathered. It's a unique blade shape, but a useful one I'd imagine. The Cricket gets a lot of praise for EDC, I don't see why the Dodo would be much different functionally.

Am all for a new Dodo,

(My least favorite knife color)

Hello from a Dodo fan from Montenegro!

I have to say i love this knife, specially the handle, Spyderco should definitely make more knives with that handle. :)

I love Orange. Orange Dodo will be great.

It is OK, but not as good as orange.

I'm on the fence on this one. I really like the dodo but I don't like orange. I'll probably buy one anyways because I always wanted a dodo. It would be nice if another run gets made in black (or blue or brown or grey or CF or titanium or anything).

Has there been talk about the blade steel for this sprint? I'd wish for something that would retain it's initial sharpness better than CPM S30V. A high Rc CPM M4 might be a safe bet as it appears to both do the job sell well in the sprints. I wouldn't object trying ELMAX either, but I guess that would push the price high or, if not, reflect badly on the LionSpy retail price. What do you think?
