It's a gorgeous looking stamp too for you stamp collectors out there. I hope they put one out for Bob Dylan too :D

I just heard Alice Cooper's KILLER LP the other day>> it was awesome>> he used to put on a great concert. Great thread!!

Heck yeah, brother! Couldn't agree with you more. :D In fact, just earier today I was listening to some of my old Led Zepplin CD's. (Yep, I still use the ol' CD player from time to time). Man, they just don't make music like this anymore. Some of my other favorites from this era are Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Guess Who, Simon and Garfunkel, Beatles, and a few from the Stones.

By the way if y'all didn't know this is pretty much the best band ever. Almost 40 years in the game and still sound better live than most bands ever did on an album. The only metal front man that even holds a candle to Bruce Dickinson is Rob Halford (though I won't deny Rob has a super voice, I'm just a teeeeeny bit more of an Iron Maiden fan than Judas Priest).

I mean...the guy is 62 flippin years old and still has a better voice than almost anyone of the genre had in their prime (though he was like 58 in this video but still).

Iron Maiden isn't my favourite (Rush has that honour), but they're up there...I saw Maiden live a few years ago and they do put on a fantastic show.

Yeah I wouldn't call them my favorite but they're an amazing band. Their discography is overwhelming.

I've seen Rush live twice, and the show they did in Calgary in 2007 (Snakes and Arrows tour) was the best rock concert I've seen for sure...it was fantastic. They have so much music to cover that there was no opening band, and they played for almost 4 hours ...and there were still songs they didn't get around to that I wanted to hear lol. My favourite album of theirs has always been 2112, but sadly I still only have one of their albums on vinyl...this one.

I usually can be found listening to chiptunes, trance, bluegrass, classical, or older country.

One hour it's Vern Gosdin, then out comes Shpongle, and then Pixelh8. I like Jonathan Coulton as well, gotta respect a guy who writes a song about the Mandelbrot set.

Today, however, has been mostly Elton John, followed by Andrew Gold.

It's not often in the heavy music world that a band can make something that is both brutally heavy and beautiful at the same time...but this is pretty **** close.

And a piece I REALLY enjoy, and always have when I have a taste for listening to music for a while with my eyes closed and doing nothing else but be absorbed by the music itself...one of my all time favourites. The Planets, Op. 32. This was recorded between 1914 and 1916 and you'll hear bits and pieces you'll undoubtedly recognize from many passages repurposed for the many science fiction shows that have become popular.

Here's a small segment of another English masterwork I've been listening to a lot recently for a project...
