Everytime I see this, makes me want a set. I normally do not like Cf, but this smooth style I really like. Tell your friend he did an awesome job!

Not only are you great at photography, but making scales too. I think you did an excellent job for your first time. I do not know if its the way you took the pic, but the scales almost look like padded leather in a sence.
Great job.

After I get a few more knives I might try to do some scales. Can you PM me where you got your materials? Thanks and keep it up

i've just stonewashed my Delica 4ffg because the blade was all scratched up ... it looks awesome, cleaned the handle too with a toothbrush and dish soap, work great in 2 minutes!
here are some pics of the new beauty, btw i LOVE the grey clip , works great with the orange and blade, the knife looks lighter without the black clip :)

I have my Chokwe apart and waiting for some G-10.
I am thinking about stone washing the blade while I am waiting.
What median did you use to get the stone wash?
I have not looked into this yet.

I've looked for it on youtube and found a pretty simple way to do it , check :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRhfqOTmq7E
it really brought back my blade to a new finish, some say it's less rust resistant than a mirror finish wich is true, but on a stainless vg10 blade it's really not an issue i think :)
One cool thing too is that the blade is a lot less reflective with a stonewash, witch gives it that cool smooth look

I tried my hand at flame anodizing titanium today and it turned out better than I imagined it would. I apologize for the awful picture, I'll have to take a better one tomorrow with a camera, not a phone. It does give you an idea of the coloring though.

Quick Question, does this process take off the "bug" that is etched on the blade?

Yes it's gonna remove some of the logo, it's not completely gone on mine but it's really faded , it doesnt remove stamped stuff like seki city though.
I think its worth it if your blade has been used a lot and you want to give it a new life :)

I did a light wash on my Chokwe blade (45 minutes). I used a mix of big and little river stones, tempered glass fragments, and coffee beans.
I got a VERY light wash that didn't totally remove the bug or the CPM 30V etch. Barely faded and just a light break in the shiny. More of a satin with the stone marks.
With the mods I am doing to my Chokwe, I think this is good enough. Just noticeably stoned, yet still satiny. The blade was nearly a polished finish.
Dull as Hades, tho, LOL.
I am working on the clip.
When I get my G-10 material this week, I'll finish this up and post some pics.

My projects from yesterday;

Stripped Delica clips;

And some flamed titanium;

Next time I won't scuff the titanium so much, still turned out great though, as far as I'm concerned.

So, what models of Spyderco have the Titanium clip (yours has the bug). I am a newbie as I didn't know Spy made a Ti clip.
I am stripping a Chokwe clip as we speak. It sitting in the stripper, now.

That is off a Tasman Salt. I believe the Pacific and Atlantic Salt also have them, aside from that I'm not sure. I don't have the catalog in front of me or I'd check, the wife and I are at my parents for dinner.

I'll check later, but someone will probably beat me to it.

I will pull it out and check.
And see what other models it will fit.
Thank you

RWB: did you want to clean up that G-10 Deli and send it my way ;) :)

I do not think I am fond of the flamed clips, but I am glad that you like it. Thats all that matters anyway.

Got a titanium UKPK for Christmas from my wife. :) Well, I knew I had some work to do (I'm picky) - I opened up the area around the hole for ease of opening, sharpened the hole for better thumb purchase, antiqued the edges by sanding and polishing them, and bent the clip to work better. The edge antique idea was from forumite 5.56's Sage 2 he did. Anyway, it now works slicker than whale poop on ice and looks fantastic (to me :) )...

Stonewashed Balance

First try ever.....used some smooth river rocks, a little WD40, a old Glad disposable tub, and 120 minutes in my dryer. I think it came out ok, what do you all think?
