I've never heard of this before but I'm intrigued. I've always wanted to try a Native in LC200N as a lightweight hiking knife but the green color is less than ideal given where I spend most of my time.

if i were you, i'd probably go with magnacut and yellow instead. maybe even dye it orange or put a bright lanyard on it.
Thank you for this suggestion. I never thought about a bright lanyard, but now that you mention it, some type of glow-in-the-dark materials (beads, I guess?) on a short, bright-orange lanyard would be quite practical. And if I use a lanyard, that sorta opens the door for a Dragonfly in SE H2 to take this spot. Decisions, decisions.
you can also use cordage that has reflective fibers in it for seeing it in the dark with a flashlight.
That's exactly what I'm gonna do. Thanks again for these suggestions -- it's been very helpful. Now I'm off to look at reflective cordage (and perhaps RIT dye for another day). :cheap-sunglasses

Check Amazon for your reflective paracord, they have the best selection as well as quality. A snake knot lanyard makes a great tug strap and you can even sorce a few spyders to go on it there.

Edit: you click on the pic here and zoom in a little, you can see the reflective trace in this paracord snake knot strap on my Police4...

That is a handsome looking dye job! I like to imagine you bought those plant pots after you dyed it as you were so taken by how it came out🤪

I decided to redye my Chief. I didn't like the results as much as my Native that got the same treatment, I think because I sanded and exposed a little too much of the yellow. I could have dyed it black again and started over but I was looking at the dye rack and saw a color called Chocolate Brown and I thought that might make a nice gradient between the black and yellow, and if not then I can still dye it black.

Anyway here's the results. I may sand a bit more or just let it wear naturally.

The brown is actually pretty dark, darker than I had expected so the redye is very subtle and in the spots that were previously sanded yellow the redye almost looks like black dye that just didn't take very well.

Image

I tried to go very light on the sanding so I didn't sand off all the brown dye.

And here's a before and after

I'm gonna go in and try to even put the sanded tips of the bi-directional texture so it looks less blotchy.

Decided to try to make my plain, factory-seconds Native 5 look old and ancient. Scales were light grey and steel is Maxamet.

Dyed and sanded the scales and put the blade in an onion for an hour.
Turned it out pretty cool.

Para 2 cruwear rit blue dye over toxic green scales. Then a file was used to cut in the diamond design.

Man I don't even like blue that much but this is gorgeous. Great job.

How do you feel like dying Micarta compares to FRN or G10?

I have quite a few Crucarta knives I wouldn't mine dying green.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Thanks! That is my favorite PM2, but I'm biased.

This micarta is easier to work with than G10. Maybe a bit longer of a bath than Seki FRN, but not as long or hot as G10. Also sands easily which made chamfering the edges a breeze.

I got some G10 on a new Manix2 that I just hate how much blue is in this forest green lol. I have not messed with much of the G10 to know if I can get this knife a green color or not. Guess I am going to be doing what I can with it soon.

One thing I am sure, is it's not going to turn out as nice as yours above. That thing is awesome...

has anyone tried dying the pd1 sprints green? figured I'd try and if it doesn't work go with black. if it looked more red in person I was thinking a red to black fade, but it's too pink for my tastes. has to go.

I did and never got anywhere near green lol. It was just darker, so it's all black now and it looks good if you ask me, the G10 on my blue-green Manix2 could not lighten it up either, I even tried the Rite-Dye remover, so those scales also went black and I am so glad too.

I just didn't care for the color of my Manix2 that was said to be Forest Green, all I saw was Philadelphia Eagles jersey color lol... Not a Eagles fan, I live in the area where Patrick Mahomes went to college at Texas Tech, so naturally was for the Chiefs lol...
