Ahh...thankyou Stew. I thought those were the same but wasn't sure. Thanks for setting me straight.

If you don't mind saying, what torx 9 did you use and what size standoffs to replce the back spacer?vadel wrote:Modded Military CTS-XHP
- black painted spacer >>> normal backspacers with modern design and very high-tech looking
- torx-6 >>> good torx-9. slightly polished. better look, no more chance to break screws
- new (better quality) screws for clip. slightly polished

That is looking really nice!! Are you going to stonewash it to??raggasonic wrote:My first experience with ferric acid :
It is very crappy, but I'll try a stonewash on it, and then I'll see how it gets :o
Thanks for the picture. That's really different and interesting. Looks comfortable. As for getting the blade tight, what about washers and cutting the leather around them?Andreas wrote:Your request is my demand.
A few things I have to say about it:
the leather is about 2 millimeters thick which is just perfect for Persistence handle scales, but it's not a hard material like G-10 is. The blade has a lot of play at the moment, simply because I can't get the pivot screw tight enough. Also, you can kind of see the holes of the liners through the leather because it's dented there. The leather does wear nicely I must say.
I have tried hardening the leather, without good results. Yes, the leather gets harder but it also gets thinner or shrinks to where the scale is too small, etc. I think I'll need to buy some heavy duty, really thick and sturdy belt leather to make it really work.
Conclusion: it looks really nice, doesn't work at all.
BTW, it has been a while, been busy with other stuff, you know how that goes. I hope to have some free time between Christmas and New Year's Eve for some more experimenting.
Thanks for the kind words.The_Bart_Man wrote:That is looking really nice!! Are you going to stonewash it to??
Would Ferric Acid work on H1 steel?? Since this is rust resistance and is missing the carbon in the steel?!
That's a good idea you got there. I'll see if I manage, definitely going to try it.Jazz wrote:Thanks for the picture. That's really different and interesting. Looks comfortable. As for getting the blade tight, what about washers and cutting the leather around them?
