I like this thread a lot - hiking + backpacking was the first context where I used a knife regularly as a child. I'm not much of a hiker these days (usually rather be on a bike), but here are a few from the last few years.

Hunting and hiking Colorado’s Continental Divide Trail at Route National Forest. 2 weeks bow hunting some of roughest terrain in Colorado. Hiked almost 90 miles at 11,000 feet. I lost 15 lbs and ate tag soup…2 years in a row.
