Frankly, I've not thought about a Salt version. We'll see reaction to the design of the 3.5" version. See if any "tweaks" are necessary? Then think about blade steels, handle options and possible Salt versions. You're on page 6, we're still on page 1.

My guess, based on the reaction to the current SE Chap here and other places I've read about it, is that 30% would be a certain sell out. There is a lot of love for this Chaparral Spyderedge LW.

The tip on my concept model is the same as the regular model. For the record, I design knives to be used as knives. I don't design knives to be used as pry-bars. The tips of my designs rarely break from use, only from abuse.

I've been using my CM for a few days now, and it works well. I plan to take some weight out of it. "Simplicate and add lightness" (Colin Chapman) but I don't plan to change the pattern. we will more than likely made a run, though I don't think it would be able to come our this year.

Very excited for this model. Neutral ergonomics look like they'd work better for me than my current favorite S2XL (swell placement has always felt a little far back) as well as being thinner and lighter. Given the mockups look more or less the same as the production knife, I intend on buying one, maybe serrated.

I would love a Boye dent on it, or is the lockbar too thin for that?

It's a really cool feeling, isn't it? I had similar feelings when they unveiled the Military 2.

I'm excited for you! I know you've been asking for Sal to make this for a long time.

Would still like to see the knife under the guise of a “gentleman’s knife”, not an EDC.

Think the slenderness is an integral part of this identity.

The two chaparrals I keep are the carbon fiber and sun/moon; the sun/moon being the favorite.

For handle variants I would enjoy seeing more of the sun/moon concept … land/sky to anima/animus … and likely a million others in-between the two, so this could go on forever! And I think applicable to a gentleman’s knife, upscale without being “flashy”.

Literally my first thought when I got and tested my Chap FRN in 2019 was "man, this is great, but it must shine even more in "longer"... and I started a thread and poll about this on the very first day owning the Chap (viewtopic.php?p=1295580#p1295580).

It is really cool indeed that Sal and Spyderco are now at least on the way of creating such a unique model!

/ And as always: I am really glad that a similar thing happened to you and so many who obviously love that model with the Millie 2!

I think the "Chapagernot" under discussion will be somewhat similar to traditional single-bladed folding knives I carried in my youth (from Boker and Case), with long(ish) but thin blades, easy pocket-ability, and efficient slicing. I think it's a winner.

I might have been one of the biggest nuisances when it comes to advocating for such a knife, but there are certainly many more who constantly express their love and hope for longer, thin blade stock Spydies!

I wish the "Chap XL" will become a reality indeed and I wish for YOU it'll feel close to that "PM2 lockback Skinny" for you!

To me though the overall Chap shape and layout has a lot more Manix- than PM2- vibes, especially when it comes to the blade (shape, thumbramp, tip...) (see here viewtopic.php?p=1831506#p1831506)

Well, knowing this knife will become reality I am on hold buying any other models and will wait for next year or year after that for Chap XL to be released. Dream knife, thanks to Wartstein and others for pushing for it and Sal for listening.

Wow, this thread developed quicky.
So happy for you @Wartstein, that this dream is approaching realization. Like @cycleguy, I don't think I was too enthusiastic about a longer Chap when you first launched the idea. But back then I wasn't very enthusiastic about any knife over 3".
That has changed somewhat, along with some other preferences that has matured over the years, so I've gone from being basically uninterested to now having this as one of my most anticipated future releases.
I can only thank you for having the foresight to campaign for the knife that the future me would come around to want :)
