What's the one you keep going back to?
Re: What's the one you keep going back to?
I can't imagine it really being a big deal? If you're not out in public ninja flicking your knife around then I highly doubt law enforcement is paying attention. Even if they see a clip, are they really going to ask you to take it out?? I understand if going to a concert, sporting event, getting pulled over, etc. Scenarios like that where it could matter. Otherwise, who cares?? Carry what you like!!

40mm,
You got to hold the line on rule "#9"... Period the end rule #9 just has to be... There are no restrictions on rule #9, so if you just must go and edc something smaller, but just know I got your back... lol
You that aren't familiar with rule #9 need to Google that and might even buy something to remind you of it :)

For normal EDC purposes, I don't think anything beats a wharncliffe dragonfly. I alternate between my VG-10 and K390 depending on how I feel. That probably edges out the delica as the one I keep going back to, but it's like 51/49. Favorite delica for carry is 20CV/M390.
Plus I always keep a manbug leaf SE on my keys, because it'll cut anything in an emergency, even food.

Ha. Had to Google it. I'm not an NCIS guy, but I am a Rule #9 guy which is why I've typically gone small and H1.Jeb wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 5:11 pm40mm,

vivi wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 4:48 pmMy state laws suck: they are inconsistent and poorly defined. I can open carry most anything, except in a couple larger cities where someone might feel frightened if they see a knife. And if you frighten someone, you get to spend time with cops.
The bigger problem is concealed. No length fixed blade is acceptable if carried inside a pocket. They call it “furtively concealed”. Potential felony.
A folding knife is okay, unless the blade is too long, then it’s a “dangerous, concealed weapon”. What’s too long? Depends on the DA. Most places the limit is 3.5 inches. Bigger cities say 3 inches or 2.5, depending on the DA’s mood. The laws are written so poorly they can be interpreted in different ways and used to bludgeon people whenever.
And what does “concealed” mean? Some cops think it means a knife that is completely concealed. Others think that a knife hanging by its clip inside a pocket is concealed, even if you can see almost an inch of it (like a Para 3). No consistency.
When I carry a second pocket knife, I limit it to 3 inches (Para 3, Sage). I have a few bigger folders. I don’t carry them. If I need a bigger knife, I open carry a Spyderco Temperance, unless I’m really going to beat on it. Then I carry an Esee 6.

Act,
That is bad for you guys, what state is this anyway?
Vivi,
I can't respond to your pm to give you the guys name and business to get the scales, like on my Police4. His name is Dmytro, he is in Ukraine but sales through etsy by the name DHCustomknifes
He is really good to work with too, he will pm you multiple times during your order, quick to get back with you. Not the norm of so many places...
Sorry to have to tack this info up here to get it to Vivi guys

Re: What's the one you keep going back to?
I’m surprised and delighted at how prevelant the endela, specifically the VG-10 SE version is on this thread.
Re: What's the one you keep going back to?
I always come back to a seki wharncliffe. I’ve had numerous wharncliffe delicas, an endela, and enduras over the years. They just work so well for me as an electrician.

Re: What's the one you keep going back to?
I'm sitting here, sipping whiskey, wife reading, dogs sleeping, fire crackling, and my VG-10 SE Endela clipped in my pocket.
I started the thread because I have other knives, other steels, and I just find this one in my pocket more than any of the rest of them. Someone in an earlier post said that the go-to knife for them was not necessarily their favorite. It's the same for me. My favorite (right now) is a K390 SE Leafjumper. However, the one that I keep going back to is the one I have on me tonight.
Come to think of it, if I lost or broke my favorite knife, I'd be sad. I would look at my collection and try to think about a replacement. I may consider buying a new one. However, if I lost or broke my go-to, I'd order another immediately. Heck, I may order a back-up just in case.
Re: What's the one you keep going back to?
As one of those whose choice for this thread was (is) the VG10 SE Endela:
To me it is just the prime example for a no nonsense "can´t go wrong" cutting tool, the one I grab so often when I don´t think about what actually to carry, and it never disappoints.
I truly believe that even those who for their own good and valid reasons prefer other models over the SE Endela (it is not even MY own top favorite Spydie) would appreciate having one just in a tool box or the like for real, hard work.
(Of course one of the reasons why I assume this are the great serrations this knife offers. It´s the model that "converted" me from PE to SE when it comes to EDC folders).
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Re: What's the one you keep going back to?
K390 delica SE. I usually carry a plain edge of some sort as well, but the delica SE gets the most use
Re: What's the one you keep going back to?

That's funny - I just checked in on this thread after picking up my SE delica this afternoon because I couldn't decide what else to carry. I have a few other new knives I'm trying to test out (namely a Rockjumper & Police C07 SE, which are both fantastic), but this one is such a known entity for me and such a great knife for >99% of what I actually need to cut in a daily basis.
Re: What's the one you keep going back to?
Dragonfly. Carry/use it more than any other model. May not be my favorite Spyderco all the time, but it is always in the top 5. Just disappears in the pocket.
Re: What's the one you keep going back to?
I've only had it since September, but my Sage 5 (with micarta scales) feels like that pair of pants that is just perfect. I spent some money over the holidays and got some nice knives, but I keep going back to the Sage that melts in my hand.
M4 / MagnaCut / H2 / S30V / Micro-Melt PD#1 / SPY27 / 10V
Re: What's the one you keep going back to?
Care to share a pic?
Would like to see it with Micarta scales...
