it's hard to judge colors on screen sometimes. all of our screens render color slightly different, first of all, but then you have to factor in the lighting and editing of the actual photo. the color in that photo looks like it's off globally, so it's probably an editing problem and/or warm, bright lighting making the whole scene look more yellow than it is. i think these companies get a little too hung up on the ig advertising and forget people need to see what they're actually buying. the color probably looks closer to the stock photo above in real life, but even that photo looks a little dark, so it might actually be slightly lighter than it appears there.

So it's looked brown, od green and now a mustard green...these are all quite different. Interested in what the actual color is. Have no interest in the knife, but this color situation has peaked my interest!

It should be close to the OD green used on REC's exclusives. But it is coming from a different country, so there might be some variance.

All BHQ needs to do is take some good pictures under real sunlight. I'm sure VA still has some real sunlight available.

As a guy who's done a lot of art, I can tell you there's probably 100 shades that'll pass as olive drab and if the G10 is from different makers it'll most likely be a different shade. We've seen this with several colors over the years.

^Yep. OD green on military vehicles and uniforms has a pretty wide gamut.

This whole color thing seems to be getting blown way out of proportion. BladeHQ’s photos are a bad representation of the actual color.

It’s OD Green G10 with a coated blade, Spyderco has recently done multiple exclusives in this color way. It will be the same color as those.

Think DLT Trading Tuff exclusive, apply those colors to this knife and the big mystery will be solved for you.

The images from Spyderco thus far have been OD Green (see below). Curious to see some actual pictures from buyers in sunlight.

Hahah this reminds me of that silly "what color is the dress?!" controversy on the internet a few years back..

I agree though, it's sometimes hard to get a feel for a knife's true colors from online pictures.. especially where BHQ is concerned. I find it to be something of a universal truth that the color will always look better in person.. I'm sure this one will look great!

This is still in-stock and I can’t help but think it’s purely because of the price. This feels like a $200 knife to me. I am prepared to be hated on, but that’s just my honest opinion.

Count me in, I've never had a tanto and have always liked this knife. $200 and there's a good chance I would have, but not over $300 after tax. I know it's been said a bunch of times already, but it's true.

Add my voice as well. Maybe some other vendor will get a shot at an exclusive?

+1 regarding the price. I would have gotten this if it was near or slightly higher than the price of the Ayoob sprint. At its current price though, it's already half the cost of the new laptop I'm saving up for (in our local currency).

I would have given this and the M390 Native Chief a shot if they were the price of the 4V Manix. Never tried a Lum besides the Chinese Folder.

I've been maintaining a $200 and under policy for knives for some time. You can get extremely high performance for that $$, and beyond that I feel its diminishing returns when you're speaking strictly performance.

My passing had less to do with the price and more to do with the fact I'd rather have a Tanto PM2. They've been sitting on that exclusive design for too long. We've seen multiple runs of the Wharncliffe and Waved PM2's, but seems like it's been ages since the Tanto PM2 was in stock. I will reiterate my often made point that exclusive blade shapes are not ideal. It stifles the variety and availability of a great design.

The comparison of this BladeHQ Lum Tanto M390 TiCN + G-10 (Japan) at $289.95 to the St. Nick’s Manix2 XL 4V DLC + G-10 (USA) at $185.00 is to the point.

What the U.S. consumer was paying for Spyderco knives was very reasonable up to January 2016. You could get them for 45%-50% off MSRP with free shipping and no sales tax. In January 2016 Spyderco instituted MAP pricing where the advertised discounted price could not be less than 40% off MSRP. This was to help dealers not consumers. 40% shrunk to 35% in January 2018 and to 30% in January 2020 (effectively increasing the price for the consumer). In the meantime, MSRP kept going up with huge increases in January 2022. A few years ago more and more dealers started charging sales tax which again increased the price to the consumer. Fairly soon, a ParaMilitary2 will be $200+! Unsustainable!

Isn't there like a pound where you can pick up cheap Lum tantos that ran away from home?
