It would probably be similar to convince you that the Manix 2 is a terrible knife, for whatever reason.

Beliefs are a tough thing to change.

After 32 years, it's a love/hate relationship. While they don't often understand my motives, they have come to believe that I have some idea of what I'm doing.
I'd guess they know all about your accomplishments and are probably proud of their contribution . There should be some respect there. 32 years, at 20 years per generation means you have been doing business with them long enough to allow them to bring their children into the business, or helped them raise them up, educate and move them on to other vocations moving on to their grandchildren now. That would be a pretty significant thing to me. Generations Sal!

Heck, that almost makes you part of the family. :)

Have you been able to do any sailing or fishing on Lake Biwa? There was a world record Large mouth bass caught from that lake. It looks beautiful to me though I've never been. Yet.

About time to.

Myself? I want to sail both Great Slave, and Great Bear lake while I'm still young enough to be healthy enough to not be that old guy people have to carry or wheel around.

They are bigger and deeper than most of the great lakes. Like the great lakes they whip up fast and have the fetch to get really big. Ocean big. Grilling lake trout and watching the Borealis is always fun.

Hi Hopsbreath,

Welcome to our forum.

Hi Joe,

Interesting notion. Gail and I worked with the grandfathers, then the sons. Now Eric is working with the son's sons.

Why do you think the endura was 1 per household but the delica was 2 per household?

Maybe they just got more delicas in then enduras?

That may be the reason.

Knifecenter is taking preorders.

Are there any places left selling upfront ( not preorders )

Probably just as well I got a Stretch on pre-order two months ago. These puppies are hot commodities!

Edit: looks like a couple "collector" models are available at Howes.

LOL! You certainly have all of our votes of confidence for sure! I work with Japanese scientists on a regular basis and I must agree that no matter how senior one may be, there's always a vieled (or sometimes not so vieled) background of polite yet cynical skepticism behind all interactions/discussions!

Out of curiousity, in your experience, what is the general feeling about carrying pocket knives in Japan? Is is a taboo item? If not, I bet Spyderco might enjoy a healthy following over there due to a shared love of very high quality workmanship. Domo arigato Glesser-sensai!

Thanks, when I searched this morning, the search page said "Coming Soon!" I figured it wasn't in stock. When you click on the item, it has the add to cart button.

GOT THE PUPPY!! BRYAN & TSchloz, THANKS FOR THE TIP!! --- oops, excuse the shouting :)

I've been wondering how to do this since some dealers have pre-order and some don't but will email you. I was afraid to pre-order because if I locked in to one dealer and they sold out before my name came up on the list the others might also be sold out and I might be out of luck. So I just got on mailing lists of the three dealers I found who said they would notify me, and that didn't include Knifeworks at that time. Also I didn't much want to risk pre-ordering, buying elsewhere, and trying to cancel the pre-order :p Now I just need a strategy to get a solid Super Blue knife, then I'll have both solid and laminated in both SB and ZDP :D

I've been pretty lucky with these things so far -- all's well that ends well :D

Knifeworks is temporarily out of stock. I just did a preorder at KC, we'll see how that goes.
