Pictures of them side by side would be much appreciated! I have a Calypso coming, and the Police is one of those Spydies that have been on my want list a long time without being purchased.JLS wrote:I find it interesting that the handles are still riveted even though the pivot is screwed. That does make me rethink my idea of unscrewing the G-10 and fitting black micarta scales for something a bit more like the original. Just a bit more work, I guess.
The overall thickness looks to be similar to the Police 3, which is quite slim as well. I'll be picking one up shortly to compare, though I never should have sold my original. Overall the Police 3 and new G-10 Calypso are very comparable in many aspects and I look forward to using them side by side.
Caly Sprints are out?
Agreed. Interesting that Spyderco chose not to use the very common spoon-shaped hourglass clip with a hole in it to enable it to be mounted over the lanyard tube.thurin wrote:I like the positioning of the clip for tip down. Tip up is showing a lot of knife.

I'll be happy to once I have it. BladeHQ is 15 miles up the road from my work, so as soon as they have them in, I'll be getting one. So far, they don't have them.phaust wrote:Pictures of them side by side would be much appreciated! The Police 3, by itself, is a great knife if you want something that long. It's very long, but not unwieldy at all, though I must admit to carrying a Military almost daily. I never cared for the original Police, but the Police 3 is a different animal. It is very thin through the handles and is relatively lightweight considering it's size and full liners. Ergonomics are very nice and I really like the addition of the 50/50 choil on it. The blade is a great slicer, though I look forward to the constant belly of the Calypso blade. I've had mine for over a year and I've often thought it was the closest I'd get to a Calypso again. NO MORE!! :)
