You should never have to ask yourself "do i really need another knife?" The answer is obvious...

Looks like they hit me up with an initial "pending" date of 02-09-2012. Don't forget the 7.95 for USPS priority mail! Yeah, priority mail, looks like I will get it come mid-March.

What happens when you go out tomorrow to pay for your car service only to find your card maxed out because you didn't know about this transaction?
If $400 is going to max out your card, then you probably shouldn't be buying knives. Reading the fine print when you pre-order is probably a good idea too. Just some friendly advice :)

I have 3 bank accounts and for personal reasons, I usually keep less in the one I used when I put down deposit. Since I do not see this fine print you are referring to, my point was that it would be nice to be notified prior to them withdrawing it from that account. Thanks for the advise though.

That's what credit cards are for, so you don't have to have the money sitting in any one particular account at that instant. They also offer buyer protection and warranty services which are both nice to have.

Thanks for the advice, not really required, but thanks anyway.
I paid with paypal linked to a bank account rather than a credit card. Why?
Because I don't have a credit card, I have a debit card, which means I need to have the funds in the account attached to the card for the transaction to occur.

It would be ridiculous for me to transfer $400 into that account on the day i pre-order, not knowing how long it was going to be before I get charged. Meanwhile 5 months worth of other debit transactions occur and my $400 it whittled away. Come knife day I'd be in the same position I would have been if i just held onto my $400 in the first place.

If i did have a credit card, I'd be livid if it were ever charged without warning. In years gone by, a credit transaction could only occur if you physically signed the imprint slip. These days just having a card number on file seems to mean it can be charged without your permission.

My good buddy popsickle gave me a good idea. Now I ask the dealer I pre-order from to pay in advance so I can pay at the time I want.

Where are you checking? My bank posts CC transactions very slowly. If you purchased online @ KW, check your account/order history for a note about payment at the bottom of the page.

It sounds like a case of not knowing exactly what financial agreement you are entering into. Most of these pre-orders state clearly that the balance will be charged once product arrives. You are essentially agreeing to this payment structure when placing the pre-order. If that doesn't work with your accounts then I probably wouldn't buy, or wait until you can make a full purchase or arrangement to prepay in full.

This is not difficult stuff here. If you can balance a checkbook I'm sure you can figure this out, but don't blame the retailer for your ignorance.

Checked account thanks, not there. I paid by paypal initially, hate to bother these folks cause I know how busy they must be guess an email is in order.

It looks like my CC was just charged on Friday, but did not show up online until this morning. I hope this means they will ship this week.
The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

It'll be an interesting week or 2, with all of these charges appearing I think a few ought to be on their way in the next week. I can't wait to see/try/use/abuse this steel in the mille form. My wicked edge stands ready for the challenge.

Is the K390 Millie up next? ;)

On KW website, under my order history, it says one of mine is ready to ship and already has tracking number...so I would think it would be a safe assumption that it'll be here this week. Since I ordered one early on, and the other later...I guess my other one will be in the next batch.

Cool, didn't think to look on the KW website for status on mine. My order shows status as ready to ship with a USPS tracking number as well, and as I was charged for both (ordered 9/15) I have to thin they will be on their way soon.
