I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.
Very well said, I agree.

I imagine that most are users in the beginning and maintain that mantle, and some then progress to being a collector. I think that money is the main thing that prevents most from becoming a collector. I am a user, maybe if I could win the lottery or some unknown relative would leave me a huge pot of gold, I could then become a collector. If that happens, you should buy stock in Spyderco.

Pretty sure that is collecting. I think using is generally implied to invoke cutting.

Nothing at all wrong with it, if you ask me - if looking at them is how you enjoy them then go for it. Fewer stitches that way too :D

I had to vote user. I buy new models to try out and see if I like them or they can improve on what I already have. Some don't make the grade and get sold or traded. For example I've been through 6 different versions of the Delica IV, both Hollow and Flat ground. Now I only own the three that worked best for me. I wanted to try something a bit larger so I ordered a ZDP Endura and it was so much more useful at work for me that its become my primary EDC.

Certain models like the Stretch and the Moran I haven't had a chance to use for my intended purpose yet, which is skinning deer but that season is fast approaching.

I use some, and I collect some.I wish I had the cash to collect a lot more,as the para 2,and serrated edge tasman salt seem to be all I need to carry to serve 95% of my cutting needs.
