For the life of me I honestly don't know why, since I like PE knives better than SE normally, there are "better" steels than H1, SS handles have quite a few drawbacks, in this case including quite a bit of lateral blade play, and the usefulness of a full-blown tip is undeniable, but....
since I bought it from tonydahose, I keep EDCing the H1 Mariner Salt. :D
It must be the slim design or the fact that I am able to sharpen these serrations to push-cutting performance (finally!), or it is just soaked in crack or something :)

It`s not a bad looking knife, is there a pe available in this model?Murdoc wrote:For the life of me I honestly don't know why, since I like PE knives better than SE normally, there are "better" steels than H1, SS handles have quite a few drawbacks, in this case including quite a bit of lateral blade play, and the usefulness of a full-blown tip is undeniable, but....

Right now I'm EDCing this knife:

Mine is plain edge too, so far I really like it and if I can keep it as sharp as the factory got it, then I will love it. I didn't realize that the SS Delica comes with a hollow saber grind unlike the FRN version which is flat ground. Apparently it weights an ounce more then my Lava, I thought it was lighter though.

Nope, there isn't. This new incarnation of the original Mariner deos feature a PE section on the end of the blade that comes in handy for various tasks that require a plain edge. It doesn't seem much, but it really works.
AFAIK there was an original Mariner model in PE, but this is a rare animal nowadays and more a collector's piece than an EDC knife.
But the serrations are not overly aggressive on the H1 Mariner, so you can use it without much hassle even for tasks that normally would be taken care of with a PE knife. Plus, it is not difficult to resharpen with the sharpmaker to push-cutting performance... my first SE to be honest that I can get really sharp :o

Got it down to a slight flip of the wrist started with a flick of the thumb and it clicks into the open position. Love that sound. Sorry, getting a bit carried away there :o
