BTW for any pure collectors out there, better get a few of those T-mags. Special design, special materials, custom collaboration, and very short production run! Introduced in mid 2007, discontinued in 2007.

Which leads me to believe that the UKPK will stick around for awhile, but possibly in different materials. Somewhat like the Kiwi which was disco'd but not has been released with a few new handle materials.

The Mini Manix and Ocelot are in my top 3 for all time favorite knives. Great feel, great blades. Sad to see them discontinued. They are among the very few that I would consider buying a second as backup.

I just got a Scorpius about 2 weeks ago in plain edge. I started carrying it on duty and it carries very well in dress pants. I felt like I needed a change from my Endura. I really like the looks and feel of it, too. It actually came in one of the new black and red boxes. It has a date code of "JG", or October '07... Would that mean it's the end of the line, or they are still being made for a while??? I might have to get one in the spyderedge...

I just pulled the trigger on the full size Manix and will anxiously await its arrival. I like the Mini so much, I dare not wait for it's big brother to disappear.

I absolutely agree with you Scott. IMHO Volpe is big time sleeper. This knife has to be handled to fully appreciate it. Even the best pictures do not do justice to this knife. I bought it just because I saw a very good deal and I was astonished how beautiful and comfortable Volpe when I handled it. Fit and finish is unbelievable. I gifted one of my Volpes to my friend, he was happy as a child and he didn't like Volpe on the pictures also.
Now is good time to get. The prices on the auction is very low, about $60. Who will not get now, will regret later.
I need to get Kris. It goes on the top priority list.

Don't cry for the Manixes. Maybe Sal will present you his new born baby, the Lil' Temp 2 ;) .

Really surprised about the Manixes, they are my personal favorites, with the Caly 3 following close behind.

I went to SFO today, and a CE mini Manix followed me home! If your looking for a big Manix, and are in the 'hood, there is a in store special on the big one that can't hardly be beat, there's a deal on the Kris too. I opted for the mini 'cause it fits my hand better.

Of all the units being retired this year, I think this Manix is going to fit the bill for 'get 'em before they're gone' forever fever.

The same here. Adventure is a very good knife. :(
I carried it a lot, it is very good slicer. I gave it to friend, who loves it ,but couldn't afford. He carries it today.
Fortunately, I have one more. ;)

I am not surprised by the Volpe--it is made with the style of a gent's knife but is too big for taking out and using in that kind of setting. I bought one a few months ago. Great collector's knife, but limited appeal to a broad audience. The Manix--well, I have a MiniManix and its a great knife--but it is also going to have limited appeal to a wide audience due to heft of it. On the bright side, it is these knives that become classics---and the Kris is one of these, too.

I bought my full-sized Persian for $65 on eBay a couple of years ago, right when they were disco'd. Same issue as the Volpe on demand, though the Persian is a much better knife IMHO. Today, you can't even find the full-sized persian. It will be one of those classics. I think that the Karambit will go that way too. I love that knife--and you can pick them up for $70 today. Yojis obviously fall in this list too.

I love that Spyderco will introduce these amazing designs and try them out--its emblematic of what makes Spyderco so great.

Sorry for disappointments. We too are disappointed everytime we disco a model. The "decision meeting" is always depressing. But we do have to push ego's aside, look at the numbers and make room for new models.

Some will be classics. Some not. Some collectable, some not. Some may return in the future for a short sprint.

On the Manix, I'm sure Eric has some thoughts to the future. Probably with his P'Kal style ball lock.

The UK Pen knife is remaining, but not in black. The model needs to be more politically correct. We'll have foliage green and orange scales.

But think ahead.

The Urban will join the UKPK, also in a variety of scales.
The Stretch2 is a nice addition. Limited and expensive, but nice.
New H1 models; Caspian Salt, Aqua salt, Schempp Rock Salt (fixed blades).
H1 all stainless Mariner.
New Kiwi & Kopas.
G-10 Endura & Delica (foliage green). Some E4/D4 sprints in color.
New collaborations; Viele Phoenix, Anso Rock Lobster. Willkins Leafstorm.
Mule Teams. P'kal trainer.
We have Sage & Tenacious linerlocks, plus 2 other small linerlocks.
More Schempp Ethnic series.
A few sprints of earlier collaborations.
Some autos & bali's. (restricted)

Some new byrds: Catbyrd, G-10 Wings, G-10 Crossbill, Raven & Crow. + others.

Just to mention a few. ;)

And then we're sure to have a model or two that you "create or demand".

New Shirts, new hats.

We also want to uprade some of our current models.

Lots comin' for '08. We work hard for you.

An H1 all-stainless Mariner?

Will this have the drying vent like the original style or will the handle be solid like the SS Rescue?

Color sprints of E4/D4...I wonder what the odds of seeing purple handles will be? :D
