Thank you Darby. That is the angle I really wanted. Been looking at those AWT scales for a while, this helps make up my mind. I would assume The Manix 2 & Para 2 have similar profiles?

I only have the Manix and Sage5 AWT scales so I cannot comment on the Para2 scales.

The Manix scales are quite a bit different. They are not contoured and the texturing is much shallower. The finish has a rougher feel which gives good purchase. The edges are nicely beveled. One thing that makes the Manix scales much different is that they delete the original liners and remove the palm swell and superfluous jimping. It makes the knife significantly lighter and for me much more comfortable.

if they had just left the swell alone, or at least offered the standard profile as well, i'd have multiple knives with their scales by now. i don't like the skinny look at all.

Manix 2XL that's been at work trimming out this thorny sucker... these roses like this are as hard to get to look like this, down here in the desert of Texas; as hard to come by as this Manix2XL in jade scales and M4 steel, are to pay for now lol...

15V Para 3 today. Hopefully the work week gets quieter tomorrow, this week has been "special" so far.

yep. I'm 100% on board with any scales that remove all that silly jimping, but I'm not into skinny scales either.

I probably wouldn’t like skinny scales on most other models but the Manix is so chunky that these scales make the handle the same width as the Para2 at the palm swell. The AWT Manix is still more hand filling than most models.

If you just don’t like the look then that’s fine too. It certainly changes the aesthetic.

yep. I'm 100% on board with any scales that remove all that silly jimping, but I'm not into skinny scales either.

Eric indeed went overboard with the jimping on all the Manix 2 models. Knowing the Originals only had jimping on the top of the blade and sits in the hand perfectly i really do not get why they went so extreem afterwards.
The jimping on the belly of the handle for example i would delete out of the design as the shape is already secure enough on its own.

I agree, the design itself needs little of the jimping added to the design . The lockback proves it for me . Simple works for me . MG2

I took the plunge on 15V today.

I visited the storefront for knivesshipfree.com, which happens to be in my hometown, and handled 4 knives: the 15V Military 2, GB2, Caribbean, and S30V Kapara.

I really really liked the GB2, but decided to go with the 15V because they won't be around forever.

i guess i'm an oddball. i like all of the jimping on the manix. it's never bothered me one bit. of course, if it had never been there, i doubt i'd have missed it.

I guess I'm a super big odd ball, as I love all the jimping and textures that help me hang on the knife with slimy hands from whatever I am in lol... heck, who am I kidding; I am way worse than an odd ball lol. Might as well just own up to this right now.

Heck I am guilty of even chewing my own jimping, if you could call it that when I do it; on my own knives when there is an obvious spot that is screaming for some extra grip here...
